CHARLOTTE (VERLA) MCEWAN July 5, 1931 - February 17, 2017 It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt, Verla McEwan, age 85 years, of Grand Marais, MB, born to Austin and Eunice Guy (nee Turner) on July 5, 1931 in Neepawa, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Raymond Guy; sister Joyce Burt; brother-in-law Terry Burt and former husband Angus McEwan. Verla is survived by her children, Wade Holmes, Jeffrey Holmes (Jo-Anne), Karen Iskierski (Zyg), Teresa Morden (Blake); grandchildren, Theresa Quast, Dan (Katherine), Tim (Marti), Nina (Kyle), Katrina and Blake; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephanie (Dustin); brother Grant Guy; sister-in-law Evelyn Guy; nieces, Christine and Andrea. Her love for children was not only evident in her own family, but the many foster and daycare children that were a part of her life. Verla was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them and cooking their favourite foods. She was an avid gardener, loved to read and when her grandchildren were young, spent countless hours knitting or crocheting items for them. Verla enjoyed travelling and was able to see a major portion of Canada and United States. She loved her annual weekend shopping trip to the states with her girls. Unfortunately, because of her illness, her dream of going on a cruise this February was not to be. We would like to thank the staff at Selkirk General Hospital for the excellent care of mom over the last few weeks. Also a special thanks to Reg and Maggie for all of your support . A celebration of her life will be held in the Gilbart Reception Center in Selkirk, MB on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. For the many lives she has touched, say not in grief she is no more, but live in thankfulness that she was.
