DOREEN MYRTLE RICHARDSON (nee MCCLARY) Known to her friends as Renee, Mom peacefully passed on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the age of 89, at the Victoria Hospital. Left to cherish Renee's memory are her children, Debbie Robitaille (Jacques), Gary (Maureen), and Colleen; plus her grandchildren, Nicolas, Bryn, Callum, and Renée. Renee was born January 21, 1928 in Rosser, Manitoba to Cora and Ross McClary. She was one of six siblings, including Grace, Winnie, Stan, Ferne, and Jack. She is survived by her sister Winnie Cassell and brother Jack. Her loving husband, Delmar, passed in 2011. Before marrying Del, Renee spent eleven years working at the Manitoba Club; she loved the people and took great pride in her work. After marrying Del on February 26, 1955, she threw herself into creating a loving home and a strong family. Del and Renee shared the love of gardening, travel, and family time at their cottage in Clearwater Bay. Through the years, Renee proved herself the ultimate hostess artfully organizing celebrations for family and friends, events for Del's business associates, and her infamous Grey Cup Parties. She made many friends through her social interests, which included bowling, bridge, and ceramics. Even at the age of 89, Renee made friends easily due to her outgoing and friendly personality. Renee and Del could be characterized as strong, independent, honest, and loving parents. They instilled these qualities in their children, who will be forever grateful. The family would like to thank the staff at the Seine River Retirement Residence, Home Care and the St. Boniface Hospital Hemodialysis Unit for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Renee may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (kidney.ca). In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. • On behalf of Helen and I, we would like to give our heartfelt condolences to the passing of a very special lady!!! Helen and I visited Doreen every month for the last couple of years and it was always a very special time together. Doreen shared what had been going on in her life and always wanted to know how we were doing. She inspired us with her amazing attitude in life even though she went through many trials. We called her a TROOPER!!! We always ended our time in prayer, something she valued very much. She sure loved her family as she expressed many times. We especially loved Christmas in Doreen's suite as it was decorated so nicely thanks to her daughter. We played with every musical table decoration and were so filled up with joy!!!!!! Memories we will cherish. - Posted by: Karen Barbour (From Church of the Rock Visitation Ministry) on: Mar 04, 2017

  • I will always remember my aunt as such a kind and caring person. As a child, I always looked forward to her wonderful Christmas gatherings which she hosted at her house on Portage Ave. In later years, I always enjoyed my visits with her at Seine River. She will always hold a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Linda Cassell (Neice) on: Mar 04, 2017
