MARIE PLASTINO It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Plastino on March 4, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital after her three year battle with breast cancer which she fought everyday. Marie is survived by Doug Merrell, her partner of 10 years, their daughter Lola, her son Caed (his father Brian and Gail), parents Frank and Betty Plastino, brothers Micheal (Shelley, Kaitlyn) and Anthony of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and extended family. She leaves behind many friends who will miss her dearly. Marie was born on April 14, 1973 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She moved to Winnipeg in 2001 to work for Great West Life as a Financial Analyst. To Marie, her children were her life. She was always cheering for Caed at his hockey games, Tae Kwon Do lessons and soccer games. Then came Lola with her dance lessons and soccer. Besides her children, cooking for her family brought much joy into her life. She made their house a home filled with so much love. A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Condolences from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Father Sam will officiate the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to TD Canada Trust in account of Doug Merrell for the trust of Lola Merrell. Marie's family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Harris and her support staff at Grace Hospital, and all the doctors, nurses and support staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care unit for their special care and compassion. Our deepest of sympathies to the Plastino family and Marie's family in Winnipeg. Words cannot express the shock and pain we felt to hear this very sad news. Marie was a beautiful soul and a wonderful childhood friend who will be missed dearly. I wish we new what you were going through.
