Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ANNE STEPHEN (nee CHADWICK) On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the age of 82 years, Margaret Stephen died peacefully with her daughters by her side. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children, Douglas (Gina Griffin), Lori Stephen-James (Bill James), Donald (Carol Johnston), Therese Mitchell (Bob Hitesman), Michelle Malcom (Greig), Kathryn (Peter Karn); eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, one brother, Rod Chadwick, brother-in-law, Bill Stephen (Lorraine), as well as many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Ian, and her sister, Monica. Margaret was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on April 1, 1934. She met and married her husband of 39 years there and moved to Edmonton with him while he attended dental school. They began their family there and, following his graduation, moved to Estevan for a few years before settling in Winnipeg where they raised their children. She was a dedicated advisor, mentor and proud mother and grandmother. Margaret enjoyed many activities including curling and gardening in her younger years to more recently providing communion for the infirm and singing in the choir at her residence, The Waverley. She will miss the company of her special friends, Bernice and Anna. Mom had a great sense of humour and always made us laugh. She taught us to be honest and strong and she was never afraid to provide her opinion, even if it wasn't a popular one. We love her and we will miss her every day. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Victoria General hospital for the care and compassion given to mom while in their care. Prayers will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Road. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also in St. Bernadette Church. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Terry James, Matthew Malcom, Kevin Malcom, Quentin Mitchell, David Mitchell, and Rhys Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers include her two granddaughters Chelsea Suderman and Nikki James. "Bye now." E.J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
