CATHERINE (CATHY) JAMIESON MILLER TAYLOR Sadly, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Catherine (Cathy) Jamieson Miller Taylor, passed away peacefully after enduring a long and painful illness. She was born in Dysart Fifeshire, Scotland on October 15, 1942 to Nancy and James Taylor and arrived in Canada at Pier 21 along with her mother, a war bride, in 1946. She was a lifelong resident of St. Vital, attended Glenwood Elementary School and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. She started working at age 14, finally ending up at the C.N.R. where she remained for 32 years. Cathy belonged to the Winnipeg Canoe Club and paddled with a passion. She was on the executive of the Manitoba Cat Club and even when terribly ill, was the point of contact for lost or stray cats. She herself raised numerous prize winning white Persians, which she adored. Canoeing, fishing, berry picking and gardening were her favourite pastimes. She also loved to read and always had a book nearby. Cathy is survived by brother, Andrew, sister-in-law, Leslie, nieces, Kayti (Mike), Jai (Matt) and their children Sydney, Kennedy, Declan, Georgia and Kaydan. Cathy leaves a large extended family, of "Taylor" cousins and a proud Metis heritage from her father, as well as her very dear friend and confidant of 50 years, Jim Fuller; and close friends: Mel and Betty O'Kaley, Marilyn Surbey, Ruth and Ken Werbeki, Vickie Gosselin, Dan Nichols, and many, many wonderful friends and colleagues. In keeping with Cathy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in her honour will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. • I'm so sorry to learn that Cathy has passed. I knew her through the cat club. We both bred and showed Silver Persian cats and it was a friendly rivalry. She used the name Wee Kilty as her cattery name. I live in BC now but when visiting Winnipeg would always try to get together with Cathy and a few cat club friends for lunch or dinner. I'm really sad to know that Cathy won't be joining us the next time I'm in Winnipeg. Condolences to her family. - Posted by: Donna Einarsson (Friend) on: Mar 27, 2017

  • I met Cathy when I joined the Manitoba Cat Club. She scared me to death but upon each of us getting to know each other I found her to be a really nice person to be around. Once she decided to like you all was good. She took a liking to my husband and he really enjoyed chatting with her. She was a feisty lady who I am sure will be missed by those close to her. Rest in Peace Cathy. - Posted by: Lynne Fotti () on: Mar 25, 2017
