Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKEITH LENARD GORDON 1937 - 2017 Family Man, friend, businessman, mentor, motorsports enthusiast, outdoorsman and woodcarver, Keith passed away March 26, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the age of 79. Born in Vancouver in 1937, he was raised in Winnipeg by Pearl Snider, a teacher and administrator in the Winnipeg School Division. Throughout his youth, he worked a number of jobs, often involving year-round bicycle delivery for businesses such as Harman's Pharmacy and the Happy Vineyard. He attended Gordon Bell High School, where he met and wooed Marilyn Joy Wells of Marchand, Manitoba. They wed in 1959 and raised three children, largely at his self-built home on St. Vital Road. She predeceased him in 2009. He remained constantly at her side throughout her battle with cancer. Keith became an electrician through trades education at R.B. Russell, and apprenticeship with Kuman-Shipman. In 1965 he launched St. Vital Electric, which over time evolved from a single truck to a multiple-truck company that's served Winnipeg for over 50 years. He was involved in the community with the St. Vital Jaycees, St. Boniface-St. Vital Rotary Club, the Third Winnipeg Cubs and Scouts, South Winnipeg Business Association, and was active in the ADANAC Wood Carvers. Keith was a motorsports enthusiast throughout life, racing motorcycles in the 1950s and stock cars in the 1980s. He was an active camper and motor home traveller. Many summer weekends were spent at his beloved Black Lake. Late in life, he pursued an interest in the visual arts, attending Fine Arts courses at University of Manitoba, and immersing himself in woodcarving. Keith touched many lives. He is remembered by his children, Robert (with wife Joanne), Brad (Teresa Hume), Gail Bedosky (Mike Nadwidny), his grandchildren Devon and Reilly Gordon, Richard Nelson (with wife Chelsea), Brenna Bedosky (with father Jeff), as well as great-grandchildren Damian and Ryder Nelson and Jazmyn Derouin. He is also remembered by his loyal friends, his business associates and former employees, many of whom became members of Keith's extended family around the dinner table at St. Vital Road. The family invites all friends, associates, and family to gather April 30 at the Norwood Hotel's Conference Centre for a celebration of his life. The doors will open at 2:00 p.m. All are encouraged to bring their photos and memories to share. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family also wishes to thank the on-floor staff of Harmony Court Supportive Care and Deer Lodge Hospital's Tower 7 for their caring and efforts in the last years and days of Keith's life. I met Keith in and around 1969 when we moved in next door. I was never aware till now that St.V Electric was so new when we met. Then, I was only 14 yrs old. He asked me if I wanted a job and I gladly accepted. I was going to be an electrician . I never realized it was because I was on 4 ft 7 in tall and fit in attacks and crawl spaces. I did advance to pounding holes through concrete walls with a manual star chiel soon after. We word together for many years along with a few other young refuges and some of his experienced friends. I was always treated like I was an equal with Keith and admired him for that. I moved on around 1975 when I was swept up by big business after repairing some lights in a local radio shack. Keith and Marilyn remained my friends and always had some kind of work for me if I was around and not employed. I will always remember the special days when I would show up to work and the boat was hooked to the truck. It soon became our "corporate meeting " days. We did love our fishing time. I last spent Time with Keith and Rob a few years back when I got to take them out on my boat for a Day catfishing. The day holds a fond memory as it was the first time I got to take him fishing and the last time I got to spend time with the "real" Keith Gordon. - Posted by: Rick Thiessen (Friend, neighbour, employee, student , admirer) on: Apr 22, 2017
