LUCILLE SARRASIN (née FILLION) April 23, 1926 - March 28, 2017 Peacefully, on March 28, 2017 Lucille Sarrasin (née Fillion) formerly of St. Joseph, Manitoba passed away at the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, Manitoba with her family by her side. She is survived by her two daughters, Léonne Dupuis (Ghislain) and Lise Beaudry (Gilbert); eight grandchildren, Julie (Stéphane) Beaudette, Mélanie Wiebe, Matthieu Dupuis, Réjane Beaudry, Marcel (Andrea), Daniel (Margaret), Lynne (Edouard) Vermette and Robert Beaudry; 12 great-grandchildren, Émilie, Noah, Mya and Annie Beaudette; Gabrielle, Caleb and Aiden Wiebe; Nicole, Brielle and Josée Beaudry; Joël and Janique Vermette. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Louise Dowinski, Rose-Marie Boersma, Agnès (Norman) Nikkel, Jacqueline (Tony) Anselmo; brothers Marcel, Sylvio, Jean-Guy (Betty), Maurice (Rita), Adonias (Rose-Aimée), Alfred (Madeleyne); two sisters-in-law, Huguette Fillion and Jean Gordon; one brother-in-law Roger Tétrault, numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bernard (2015), her parents Léona (Delorme) and Adonias Fillion, sisters Raymonde Tétrault and Ginette, brothers Wilfrid and Laurent, sisters-in-law, Adéline and Lorraine Fillion and brother-in-law Armand Dowinski. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Hyacinthe and Françoise Sarrasin, three sisters-in-law, Sr. Marie Olive s.g.m., Sr. Arthémise p.m.s.j. and Éloise and one brother-in-law Hubert. Lucille was born and raised in St. Jean. She was the eldest of sixteen children. After completing grade eight at the St. Joseph School she stayed home to help. She started making bread at 12 years old. She worked as housekeeper, as cook (ever known as Blondie) at the Letellier Hotel and at the St. Joseph Co-op. She met the love of her life Bernard Sarrasin. They were married on October 11, 1952 in St. Joseph. They settled on the family farm where Bernard grew up. Together they worked the land, raised hogs, upholstery and catered for weddings and anniversaries. Mom was a great seamstress and a wonderful cook. She took much pride in gardening. She was an active member of "Les Dames de Ste. Anne" and the St. Joseph Museum. After the loss of her beloved husband and a lengthy illness of Alzheimer's disease, mom grew tired. She drew her last breath on her mother's birthday to be reunited with her dear Bernard. Viewing will take place at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., eulogy will be read at 1:30 p.m. with mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of Manitoba. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Paul Ruest and the nursing staff at the Villa Youville for their love and care of mom. We would like to thank Sr. Irène Rioux and Sr. Céline Vermette, the Angels of the Villa for their prayers, comfort and compassion. A very special thank you to uncle Alfred and aunt Madeleyne for their love, support and affection they gave to our mom; for being there every step of the way. God bless you all.
