ANNE HUDYMA (nee DENNIS) April 12, 1922 - March 30, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Anne Hudyma on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the age of 94 years, at the Beacon Hill Lodge Personal Care Home. Anne was predeceased by husband Harry, brothers Michael and John, sisters-in-law Hedy and Gladys, and parents Alexander and Eva Dennis. Left to cherish her memory are sons Dennis (Nancy) and Peter, and grandchildren Jereka and Alexander. Anne was born and raised on her family's farm in Elm Grove, later attending Elm Grove School. Her mother Eva passed away when Anne was 15, and from then on she helped to run the farm with her father and her two brothers. In 1955 she married Harry Hudyma from Springfield. Leaving farm life, she and Harry moved to the Norwood area in Winnipeg to be closer to Harry's job as a mechanic. They lived in a large brick house on Horace Street, raising two sons and renting out rooms. Anne lived in this house for 30 years, moving to a smaller home in Windsor Park in 1986, a few years after Harry passed away. Even though Anne left farm life behind, she always kept her love of flower and vegetable gardening. She saw life through the eyes of a farmer, wondering how the weather was affecting the seeding and harvests. She also enjoyed having animals around her, and had a wealth of stories about her dogs, cats, rabbits and horses on the farm. In the city, she always had a cat or two, and enjoyed feeding birds, squirrels and rabbits in her backyard. She took the most pleasure in the simple things of life; social gatherings with friends and family, good food, and a book to read. Anne was very proud of her two grandchildren: Jereka and Alexander, always asking about their activities, and wishing them the very best in their academic, musical, and athletic lives. Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., interment will take place later in the day at the Ukrainian National Cemetery, Lorne Hill Road in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Anne may be made to her favourite cause, the Winnipeg Humane Society. E.J. COUTU & CO. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dennis, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She put up with a lot from us hooligans at her Horace St house back in the day. She was always kind and generous. Sorry to say, my dad died today and his funeral is the same day as your mom's. I'll think of you and Nancy and the kids while celebrating the lives of our two good parents. She raised a good son. Take care, Diana - Posted by: Diana Montgomery (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2017

  • Anne always had a ready smile and a lively spirit. I did not know her well but I could tell that she was a practical and caring woman who loved her family dearly. I knew of her love of animals and game shows in her later years. My deepest condolences to the family and I will have a cream filled chocolate to remember you today!! - Posted by: Brenda O (family friend) on: Apr 04, 2017

  • Anne was like a second Mom to me. This is like losing my Mom all over again :'(She was an honourary Grandmother to my daughter, Holly. She was an AWESOME lady. She helped my family so much. Allowing us to stay overnight many many times as we lived out of the city at the time. She made sure we were fed and comfortable. She was full of stories and we had many cups of tea together. We would often listen to CJOB together in the mornings with Peter Warren and Hedi Lewis. Then at 10:00 am, we would watch The Price is Right! I hope she will forgive me for not being by her side once she was moved to the nursing home...I love you always Mom and miss you dearly! I still have saurerkraut perogies in the freezer for you!!! Love you forever, Brenda PS: say hi to my Mom up there please :') - Posted by: Brenda-Lee Olson (Family Friend) on: Apr 04, 2017
