DENISE MARIE LEYS (nee VAN CAUWENBERGH) September 25, 1927 - March 30, 2017 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our matriarch on March 30, 2017, with her family by her side. Denise is survived by her loving husband Robert, of 62 years. Her daughter-in-law Pearl; children, Danny, Alan, Wayne (Sandy), Sandra (Ian) and Debbie Leys. She was a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and was known as an amazing Meme to her 16 great-grandchildren. Also mourning mom's passing are her siblings, Susie, Birdie, Delphine, Jack (Claire), Judy (Ray) and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mom survived the heartache of losing her children, Richard, Linda, Charlie and daughter-in-law Irene; her parents, Charles and Maria, and five brothers and three sisters. Mom was a natural caregiver and a woman with many talents. Whether it was tending to her flowers in the garden, making her flower arrangements, crocheting and knitting things for the family. She even gave making lace a try. She had a huge love for making and decorating cakes for friends and family, she seemed to be able to do it all. Her candy houses at Christmas were always a hit whether it was the beauty of them or the time spent making them with her kids and grandkids. Mom/Grandma was an amazing woman that we will all miss dearly and cherish in our hearts forever. Knowing that she will always be with us, watching over us will bring us peace and comfort. Auntie Judy and Uncle Ray, we are forever grateful for your loving care and support of our parents, enabling us to have them at home for as long as we did. We want to thank the amazing staff of CD1 at Riverview Health Centre, for your care and compassion of our parents, as well as our family during this time. Your time and compassion with our mom means more then you'll ever know. Donations in her honour can be made to Riverview Health Foundation or St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. Prayers will be held Friday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald Street. She Who Leaves A Trail Of Glitter Is Never Forgotten. E.J.
