RENE CAMILLE JOSEPH DUPUIS Peacefully, at the age of 88, on Monday, April 3, 2017, Mr. René Dupuis, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Roma Aquin; his children, Rita (Antonin) Labossière, George (Suzanne), Paul (Irène), Doris (Bob) St-Hilaire, David (Pam), Henri (Georgette), Marie, Jules, Evelyne (Allan) Hofer, and René (Lise), as well as 34 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his sister Alida, and three brothers Theodore, Jean-Guy and Arthur. René was predeceased by his parents, Wilfrid and Marie-Louise, his first wife and mother to his 10 children, Rose-Marie (née Godard), his sister, Thérèse, and four brothers, Roger, Ulysse, Aimé and Gérard. René was born and raised in St-Jean Baptiste, MB on the family farm. In 1950, at age 21, he moved to Balmertown, Ontario to work in the gold mines. He married Rose-Marie in 1955. While in Balmertown seven of their children were born. He relocated his young family to his hometown in 1966, to farm and work for Roy Legumex. In the late 1970s, Dad sold his farmland to pursue a dream to work with Block Brothers Realty. His wife, Rose-Marie passed away in 1981. While still working as a real estate agent, he met and married in 1984, his current wife Roma (Aquin). After a few years, he then became a Claims Processor for the Manitoba Flood Disaster Board; giving him the opportunity to travel and meet interesting people. In later years, René and Roma moved to Winnipeg. Dad's last residence was Villa Aulneau where he will be missed by many. Dad was a very dedicated and hardworking man. He was thankful for his health and was proud of his family and friends. His passions included gardening and playing cards. René's family would like to thank all the staff at the Villa Aulneau and the St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion they showed toward our father. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Marcel Carrière at the Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Roman Catholic Church, 289 Dussault Avenue on Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Dad's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or Siloam Missions, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3. E.J. I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Rene. My memories of him go back as far as I can remember. He loved to tease. One summer when I was a little girl, when our family was visiting your family at your farm, Rene decided that I needed a nickname. The nickname he gave me still haunts me because I unfortunately told Roger what it was - Rene's nickname for me was Caca, and Roger teases me with this nickname, just as Rene did, to this day! Roger and I would like to express to you our deepest sympathy, and let you know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time.
