Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WAYNE ROSS August 7, 1940 - March 9, 2017 With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and brother, David Wayne Ross. Dave passed on March 9, with family close by his side, in the St. Boniface Hospital at age 76. Dave was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (2014), and parents Margaret and Angus. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tara Lee (Jason); grandchildren, Mason Ross and Makenna Sharon; and brothers, Rae and Mark. Dave was born in Winnipeg, grew up in St. Vital and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon, in 1974 and their daughter Tara was born the following year. Dave and Sharon owned and operated the Happy Wanderer in Plum Coulee, MB from 1974 to 1980, where Dave skillfully ran the bar and lounge, forging lifelong friendships. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Dave enjoyed many years with Carling O'Keefe Brewery, ultimately finishing his career when retiring from Domtar. Dave took great pride in his work and was thought of as capable, dedicated, and reliable by all who knew him. Dave was very warm, welcoming and an excellent host. His charm and smile had the ability to make those around him feel instantly at ease. He maintained his sense of humour in good as well as challenging times and found joy in small pleasures. Dave took meticulous care of his home and yard; always ensuring his pool was spotless, sparkling and ready for his family and friends to enjoy with him. His generosity left many with over 30 years worth of fond memories; splashing, floating and soaking up nothing but fun in the sun. Dave had a love for all things Cowboy and like any worth his weight whipped up an award worthy chili. He greatly enjoyed time riding, working with horses and attending shows. Grampa D instilled a love of rodeo in his grandchildren, which will live on through them always. His interests also included fishing and hunting. Still to this day, Dave remains a provincial moose hunting record holder from one of his trips many years ago. The family would like to extend a special thank you to both the Remillard family and Friendly Care Givers Homecare for their thoughtful, supportive and loving care. A memorial service celebrating Dave's life will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. E.J. COUTU & CO.
