ALLEN WIEBE
Born: Jul 03, 1947
Date of Passing: Apr 07, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLEN WIEBE July 3, 1947 - April 7, 2017 With profound sadness we announce the passing of Allen Wiebe at the Health Sciences Center on Friday, April 7, 2017. Al leaves to mourn his wife Eileen of 48¾years; daughter Andrea and son-in-law Ryan Metner. Al is also survived by his brother Menno (Helen), sister Laura (Don), twin sister Alice (Brian), brother Jim (Mona) and nieces and nephews as well as his kitty Sophie and his many friends. He is predeceased by parents, John and Eva and his brother Tex (Irwin). Al was born in Altona on July 3, 1947 and attended school in Rudneweide. At the age of 12, his family moved to Rouseau River where he attended Planky Plains School. At the age of 16 he went to Winnipeg where he found employment. On July 20, 1968 he married Eileen Patola in the St. Ignatius Parish. A few years later, Al got his electrician licence and for many years, ran his own business. He was passionate about water sports and enjoyed sailing, kayaking, scuba diving as well as meeting new and interesting places and people. Cartography (maps) was a hobby of his as well as swimming. He was at home in the ocean. He loved being in touch with nature and always said that the best sunset in the world, despite his many travels to Oceania, Europe and Mexico prior to 2000, was at the family cabin at Silver Bay. An adventurer at heart, he always found interrelations between nature and the Creator, which inspired him to understand the human condition. He noted many times that we are all human (regardless of where we live, what we do or what race we are) and this concept of human nature made him an excellent teacher. He encouraged and inspired Andrea to continue and expand his concepts, via studies in Cultural Anthropology (the study of human nature) as well as Sociology. They were most recently collaborating on interdisciplinary linguistics (cross cultural communication). A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the St. Ignatius Parish, 255 Stafford St., Winnipeg, MB with Father Joe Newman, S.J. officiating. Service will conclude at the church with a luncheon to follow at the Rockwood Legion Hall (Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans), 341 Wilton St., Winnipeg. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Tim and Elaine, Natalie, the Paramedics and staff at the Health Sciences Centre for all their hard work and efforts. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation to the Manitoba Lung Association, Winnipeg Region Office, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1P6, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, PW112-700 William Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0Z3 or to the Canadian Red Cross, Manitoba/Nunavut Office, P.O.
