Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID VAN KOOTEN November 1, 1932 - April 14, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lorraine (nee Verscheure); children Kim (Ash deceased), David Jr. and Sheldon; grandchildren T.J., Karess (Jared), Jazmine (Chris) and his pride and joy, great-grandson Asher. He is also survived by his sister Rita (Peter); brother Maurice (Marlene); sisters-in-law Genia, Flo and brother-in-law Henry (Kathryn); and by his step-family Louise, Roger (Ida), Robert (Rita), Gilles, Ronald (Sandie), and Antoine (Cathy); as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents Albert and Dora and step-mother Majella; brother Raymond; sister Irene (Leo); his in-laws Leo and Gabrielle; and his brother-in-law, Dennis. Dave was born on a farm in South Junction, MB where he was raised and educated. He started at CN in 1950, and was transferred to St. Norbert in 1952. In 1955 he changed his career to plumbing and was a plumber for over 60 years. He was also very active in the community of St. Norbert coaching his three children, as well as many other children at one time or another, in baseball. He was a Charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3870 helping to re-construct the Co-op Hardware Store into the Eagles Club. He held various positions and was still active on the board. Cremation has taken place. As per his wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or to a charity of their choice in Dave's name.
