EDWIN GEOFFERY MCMULLAN May 22, 1932 April 15, 2017 It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Geoffery McMullan on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the age of 84. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn; his children Sharon (Darryl Baron), Bill McMullan, Maryanne (Patrick Clark), Michelle McMullan (Debbie Ens), Carol (Grant Gregora) and Kathryn Harris; his grandchildren Chelsea (Eoin) Rouine, Jasmine (Joel) Defoe, Melissa Baron (James Glasier), Rileigh McMullan, Laighton McMullan, Sean Clark, Randy Clark, Owen Gregora, Amy Harris and Erin Harris; and great-grandchildren Devan and Lena Rouine. He leaves behind brothers Michael (Charlene), Arthur (Valerie); and sister Jean Dowker; sisters-in-law Cathy Darbell, Judy Butler; many nieces and nephews; ex-wife Jude; and a saddened bowling community. Geoff was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Marjorie; son Gerald; brothers Fred and Frank; his sister Sheila; and first wife Marguerite. He was born in Reaburn within the R.M. of Woodlands on May 22, 1932. His career began as a journeyman sheet metal worker by trade before working for E. H. Price Ltd. 40 years later he retired as the area sales manager. His part time work at Assiniboine Downs overseeing the jockeys maintained his love for the horse racing community. He was a proud member of the East Kildonan Kiwanis Club for many years. Geoff loved sports from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, to the Jets and Goldeyes. He was honoured by the Edson Athletics Association for his service as community hockey coach way back in his younger days. Watch out if he played cribbage with you! Geoff was a master. Much of Geoff's life revolved around five pin bowling, only giving up his league bowling when he was 80 years young. He started as a weekly bowler, enjoyed the friendly competition with his siblings and friends, introduced his children to the sport and began his volunteer career of coaching. Geoff expertly guided youth bowlers of all ages from youth up to Canada's elite competitors. As a coach he was known for his warmth, humour positive attitude, skill and motivation. He generously gave of his time to serve on the boards of W5PBA, MBAM, M5PBA and the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association. He was a Lifetime Member of the M5PBA. The C5PBA recently awarded Geoff their prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. They also declared him Coach Of The Year on three occasions. The next time you hear the thunder roll, Geoff will have made another strike in that great big bowling lane in the heavens above. Geoff was a strong-minded guy, with a great handshake and a better smile. He was happy with his family and friends around the kitchen table, dining room or patio in his beautiful garden. The family would like to thank the EMS and firefighters, Dr. Koulak and the GA3 staff at Health Sciences Centre, the ER and Fifth floor staff at Victoria Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion shown to Geoff and us all. Special thanks to sister-in-law Cathy Darbell who provided many hours of care for Geoff while he was still at home. A Celebration of Geoffery's Life will be held Saturday, May 20, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Waverly Heights Community Club, 1885 Chancellor Drive. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. (April 20, 2017 550) E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com
