ALFRED MICHAUD In the early morning hours of April 26, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, Alfred passed away peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital. Alfred was predeceased by his father Thomas Michaud; mother Ruth Ann Michaud; sister Lizzie Smith; brothers, Charlie, Kenny, Tommy and Finley Michaud; brother-in-law Gilbert Whiteway and sisters-in-law, Sharon Michaud and Diane Whiteway. Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years Jo-Ann; children, Alfred Jr (Addie), Ian (Kim) and Diane; sister Teresa; brothers, Sidney (Ivonne), James (Lila), Stanley, Barry, Mervin (Rhonda) and Ernie (Bev); sisters-in-law, Eileen, Carrie, Myrna, Nancy (Morden), Jackie (Rick), Edith and brothers-in-law, Stan, Edward, Wally, Richard and Roddy; mother-in-law Helen; father-in-law Freddie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who became family. An avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and all around outdoorsman, Alfred loved the outdoors, but the center of his universe were his grandchildren, Saige, Nelson, Leah, Andrew, Faith and Finley. Happiest times were spent in a room full of family, friends and food. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk with luncheon at noon at Selkirk Friendship Centre. Alfred will be laid to rest at Wakefield following lunch with Rev. Anthon Bouw officiating. In lieu of flowers, Alfred would appreciate all donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Im going to miss you so much Grandpa Alfred. I will remember all the memories Ive had with u growing up with the family and your smile and laughter I love you with all my heart & Im very glad you got to meet my son Benjamin and was so close to him and accepting him in your life, my heart aches ever since I heard u left us all to be in gods hands! To Alfie, and the rest of the family, I am very sorry for your loss. I only have memories of "Big" Alfie from when I was a young kid playing baseball, having him coach us and give us not only lessons of the game, but life lessons and values in which I've kept with me throughout my life and have passed on to my kids. Our deepest condolences to Alfie's family. He'll be missed on those October days in rice lake when the blue bills are flying and he's getting his traps ready. Alfie was always a pleasure to hook up with in the bush. Full of stories and laughs. He always was willing to give a bit of advice on the right or wrong way to put up a set.
