Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNIE NITCHUK Jennie Nitchuk passed away peacefully at Holy Family Home on April 27, 2017. Born in Winnipeg July 21, 1921, Jennie was the second of three children of the late Anna and Wasyl Kazaniwsky. Jennie's life revolved around her family and faith. In 1942 Jennie married John Nitchuk. Together they were active parishioners at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was one of the founding members of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of St. Nicholas Church, serving as President from 1950 to 1952. Jennie was also a long time member of the church choir and volunteered in many other capacities. Her greatest joy in life was having family around her. She loved hosting family gatherings, preparing delicious Ukrainian meals and spoiling her family with gifts and treats. Jennie will be greatly missed by her cousins, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her husband John Nitchuk, brothers Harry Kazan, Peter Kazan, and sister-in-law Alice Kazan. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue, followed by interment at Holy Family Cemetery. Reception to follow at Korban Funeral Chapel. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Holy Family Home for their kind and patient care of Jennie over the last four and a half years. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express condolences may do so by donating to Holy Family Home, or the charity of their choice. We have many fond memories of "Auntie Jennie" at the numerous family gatherings she enjoyed so much in previous years. We remember her for her kind an gentle ways and of course for her wonderful cooking! She will be missed by many.
