ALBERTA JOSEE VAN CAUWENBERGH (BIRDIE) November 14, 1935 - May 3, 2017 Peacefully with family by her side, Birdie was taken from us to join her family in the sky. Her courage and positive spirit insisting we not be sad for her, assuring us of her happiness and no regrets in the life she lived is an inspiration we will not forget. She was quick to reassure us that she was OK, and wanted to know we were alright too. Birdie was predeceased by her parents ,Charles and Maria; five brothers; and four sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing, sisters, Susie, Delphine, Judy (Ray); brother Eugene (Claire), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Birdie worked throughout her life in bookkeeping, starting out at Moser Manufacturing, followed by Silpit Industries, and ending her career at Arctic Glacier Premium Ice. Birdie enjoyed travelling to foreign lands visiting family. She enjoyed being with people and loved her independence. In her final years she enjoyed many bus trips to Warroad Minnesota, making many new friends, and having fun along the way. Her nieces and nephews fondly remember going to the latest movies with Aunty Birdie, followed by a swim at her apartment. She was always ready to give them a helping hand and advice along the way. On behalf of Birdie, special thanks has to go to Judy, Ray, Kerri, and Cheryl, for their loving care of her until the end. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Anand of Concordia Hospital 3 west. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service celebrating Birdie's life is planned for Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at E.J Coutu Funeral Home 680 Archibald St. at 10:30 a.m. Another angel has gone home to watch us from above.
