Date of Passing: May 05, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS GEORGES GRANDMONT July 2, 1941 - May 5, 2017 After a brief illness, but a longer battle with dementia, Louis went to God on Friday May 5, 2017. Louis was predeceased by his mother Marie (nee Ricard) and his father René, his brothers: John (Myrna), Ed (Rose), and Larry. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 49 years, Helen, son René, daughter Marie (Scott Lakusiak) and, the joy of his life, his two grandchildren Jeremy and Jenna. He leaves behind his sister-in-law Simone, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends who all knew and loved him as a kind and jovial man. Born July 2, 1941, Louis was raised on the family homestead in St. Norbert, where he farmed with his family until moving on to various careers. He began work for the City of Winnipeg in 1980 where he worked in the Parks Department, spring cleanup, and finally in Pools until his retirement in 2003. One of Louis' favourite places was the cottage that he built in Lac du Bonnet, where he was happiest 'puttering' in the garage and being outside in nature. Louis could build anything made out of wood and was well known for always helping a friend in need. Louis and Helen also enjoyed travelling to Europe and Florida. A special thanks to Doctors Evans and Sharkey for the dedicated and excellent care they have provided over the years. Thank you to the Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department staff and the staff on 3 South for their excellent care. Cremation has taken place and prayers will be held Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, with Father Kevin Bettens officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Louis' name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain. If one day you will miss him, search in your heart, there you can feel him, be with him and embrace him. Death only comes to those who leave no memories; for whose existence was cherished, they will always be alive in our hearts and minds. - Posted by: Raymond Laramee & Noreen Godin (God Father, 1st cousin) on: May 11, 2017

Louis truly was a gentle soul. Gordie and I so enjoyed your visits at the lake and brunch at the restaurant. Now the two 'cousins' are having a good visit in heaven. Helen, Marie and Rene, may God be your consolation and give you peace knowing that Louis is finally home and at peace. Marcie Kosman - Posted by: Marcie Kosman (Friend ) on: May 10, 2017
