Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTONNY HJORTING Tonny passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Betel Personal Care Home in Gimli, MB. From his birth in Jutland, Denmark on March 10, 1928, to his death on Thursday, he was a loving father who enjoyed many hobbies including playing his accordion, sailing, and running a dog sled team with his beloved dogs. Tonny touched people and animals in a very positive way with his gentle and kind demeanour. He is survived by his sisters Inge and Gurli from Denmark; his daughters Eline (Peter), Jane (Dan) and Carol (Tony), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held. The Hjorting family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Betel Nursing Home in Gimli for their attentiveness and loving care. For a number of years Tonny was both a friend and neighbor to us in Gimli. We spent enjoyable evenings together at both his house and our humble cottage on the lake that he loved so much. It was heartening to see Tonny and his faithful dog Amarok together both enjoying life and making the best of the day. Tonny was a talented and intelligent man with an artists's sensibility and we enjoyed engaging with him on any number of topics and issues. We know he loved his family very much and talked of them often. Tonny you did Denmark proud, and we shall think of you often.
