VERDA (LAVERNE) JOHNSON At 2:10 a.m. on May 20, 2017 Verda "Laverne" Johnson's journey ended at Tudor House in Selkirk. Laverne was born to John and Rubina Pruden on September 8, 1926. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Mundi; sons Johnie and Dale; grandsons Shawn and Kevin; sister Eileen Schindler, and brothers Leslie, Jackie and Archie Pruden. Laverne is survived by daughter Sherri; daughters-in-law Denise and Edna; grandchildren Sandra, Jason, Kristin, Jill, David, Chris, Holly, Daniel and Opal, and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters Eunice Paulson, Joyce Plamondon, and Mae Harcus; sister-in-law Lenore Didychuk, and their families. Laverne worked at the Selkirk General Hospital, Epps Cleaners and was a Home Care Co-ordinator for the Province of Manitoba in Selkirk for several years. She enjoyed Old Time music and dancing, especially at the Selkirk Friendship Centre. The family extends gratitude to the staff at Tudor House for their care, patience and efforts during her final years. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
