RICHARD DOUGLAS GIBSON Doug Gibson, 75, of Elm Creek, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Carman Memorial Hospital. Doug is survived by his loving wife Grace of 53 years; his two sons Brian (Trish), and Murray; his daughter Michele; grandchildren Reid, Dylan, and Sydney; along with many other members of his extended family. Doug was predeceased by his parents Archie and Violet Gibson of Carman, MB. Doug was a spirited man who enjoyed spending time woodworking, and repairing his fleet of lawnmowers. Whether is was sharing a joke, laughing with the staff at the Elm Creek Co-op or having a "cold one" with his friends during happy hour, his vivacious laughter would fill the room. In his earlier years, he spent time showing his hackney ponies at various agricultural fairs in Southern Manitoba with his family and friends. He held those times very dear to his heart. Doug lived in many towns and cities throughout his lifetime. He made many friends from all walks of life, and treasured every moment with them. A Come and Go luncheon celebrating Doug's life will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his family home from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. There will be a private burial at the Elm Creek Cemetery to follow. We would like to thank the Foote Family for assisting with Doug's final wishes. His ashes will be carried by horse and buggy to the cemetery for his final ride.
