JESSIE CHERNETZ (nee DYLL) April 8, 1918 - May 29, 2017 Peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2017, Jessie passed away at River East Personal Care Home at 99 years of age. Jessie will be sadly missed by her son Tom and daughter-in-law Irene, grandchildren, Kyle Chernetz, Kelly Lyons (Scott), Janean Messenger (Ray) of Burnaby, BC, great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lucas, Emma, Ava Rae, and Amedeo; niece Connie Hawrysh (Jim); niece Lorraine Hardman; nephew Melvin Welby (Gerry); nephew Tim Shandruk (Andi) of Nolalu, ON; nephew Terry Dyll (Paulette) of Thunder Bay, ON; nephew Robert Dyll of Cranbrook, BC; as well as her, great-nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Jessie was predeceased by her loving husband Walter, her parents, Mary and Joseph, sister Jean Shandruk, brother Edward Dyll, sister Mille Hawrysh, daughter Judy Jorgerson, daughter Barbara Cofield and son-in-law Dennis Cofield, grandson Todd Messenger. Jessie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 8, 1918, to Mary and Joseph Dyll. She met and married Walter and had three beautiful children - Thomas, Barbara and Judy. Jessie spent time working in a sewing factory in the exchange district, as a receptionist in a dental office, and then finally at Peoples Jewellers where she retired as store manager. Jessie loved spending time in the great outdoors. Camping and fishing with the family in Nopiming Provincial Park and Whiteshell Provincial Park were some of her favourite times. Jessie also spent many cherished days gardening at the Luchka family farm near Cooks Creek. In 1985, Jessie and Walter made the move to White Rock, BC, where Walter passed away after two short years. Jessie enjoyed travelling with friends in her later years, including trips to Alaska, Las Vegas and China. In November, 2011, Jessie returned to Winnipeg to be close to her son Tom and family. The family would like to thank the staff of River East Personal Care Home for their kindness, assistance and support. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21 at E.J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors, 680 Archibald St. Chaplain Mark Young will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army and the Winnipeg Humane Society. E.J. COUTU & CO.
