KEIRA SAMANTHA BOND On Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017, our sweet, precious angel on earth, Keira Samantha Bond, continued her journey to be with Jesus Christ our Lord. Our family - Gary, Toni, Joshua, and Nyja - is heartbroken. We've lost our baby, our bright light, our beautiful 11-year-old champion. Keira will be forever loved and so dearly missed by Gramma Stephensen, Grandma and Grandpa Bond, Uncle Mitchell and Auntie Candace (Sara and Mary), Uncle Michael and Auntie Allison (Jordan, Sean and Alexandra), Auntie Tracy and Uncle Blaine (Amy, Erin and Dean), Uncle Myles, Uncle Maury and Auntie Lianne, Auntie Tyla and Uncle Darryl (Madison and Grayson) and many more extended family members and close friends. There is nothing Keira could not do. Keira attended St. Charles Catholic School where she excelled and was a talented piano player, violinist, and vocalist. She loved baseball and ringette and #12 was well-known for her spirit, tenacity, and drive on the ice. Keira had such a fun-loving spirit and people were naturally drawn to her. Keira was compassionate beyond measure. Her love for people - all people - is what inspired her, and us, daily. This included all of God's creatures, especially her puppy Harper. Keira's faith was so important to her and she loved altar serving and praying for others. She was thrilled that she was to make her Confirmation alongside her older brother and sister. Keira's favourite time of year was Christmas. She loved the story of Jesus' birth, but could also be seen celebrating Christmas in the middle of summer. Keira loved everyone and loved life to the fullest; we all should view the world through her eyes. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz presiding. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Issaivanan, Ashleigh, Kathy, Tina, Dawn, and all of the dedicated staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Children's Hospital who give everything they have to all the children in their care. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Your love, caring, and prayers helped sustain us throughout this incredibly difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Keira's Krusade at any TD branch across Canada would be greatly appreciated. After her diagnosis, Keira began Keira's Krusade to help others with cancer, and all funds collected will be donated to combat Pediatric Brain Cancer. My life story is that she was always the light to the room and whenever she visited us at school she always had a smile on her face even if she just went through chemo or ration We will miss you Keria but God took you so you didn't have to suffer - Posted by: Allie (Friend from school ) on: Dec 06, 2017

Dearest Gary and family, I was totally speechless when I heard of Keira’s illness. I never knew your daughter, however no child should be taken away before the parents. There are no words for your loss, simply cherished memories to be shared and knowing Keira left her mark on those left behind. I read some passages and to those who knew her, she was a very special girl who left us way too soon. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Be strong. Warmest regards. - Posted by: Johanne Gingras (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2017

To Kiera. I miss you everyday and all the time. I pray that you are at peace. My mom told me you are now the angel we always prayed to when you were sick. I miss you. I hope to see you in Heaven one day because I know you are there watching us. Kate - Posted by: Kate kreklewetz (School friend) on: Jun 23, 2017

I feel very privileged to have been asked to be part of 'Prayers For Keira'. I never met Keira, but was blessed to have understood something of her spirit from the many tributes from the time the Facebook group was started. She seems to have been someone who, in a very short time on earth, was made ready for heaven. I can only think that God knew she would be so powerful a prayer warrior in heaven for us that he wanted her with him. Even so, my heart goes out to all of you, her family and friends [and acquaintances! - she touched so many] and I pray for your hearts and minds to be renewed in the mercy of Jesus. - Posted by: Constance Martin (Prayer partner in 'Prayers For Keira') on: Jun 22, 2017

My deep condolences to the family. It is an unfathomable tragedy and as the father of two young daughters I can only begin to imagine the loss. I never met this young person but she is the niece of my very good friend who mentioned her fondly over the years and especially during the last several months. I wish peace and love on the whole family. May your memories shine her light. - Posted by: Tony Kavanagh (Friend of Uncle ) on: Jun 20, 2017

As a community we are all heartbroken that Keira lost her battle against cancer. I will forever treasure the memories of her visits to the farm to see my herd. She loved spending time with the horses and little Willy was Her favorite. Her affection for him was heartwarming. She was an angel on earth as she is now in heaven. To the Bond family, we all share your sorrow. - Posted by: Donna Ridgeway (Friend and neighbour to Grandma and Grandpa Bond and keeper of Keira's favorite pony Willy) on: Jun 20, 2017

We will miss seeing Keira riding around the neighborhood with Grandpa Bond on his golf cart and planting garden with Grandma. We will miss her dropping in to visit and play with Max and Biscuit (our 2 little poodles). We will miss her scooting over with her brother and sister to offer us an ice-cream treat on a hot day. Even when Keira was ill she still greeted us with a smile. We are sad and heart broken and will hold Keira in our heart and memories forever.
