Dave was one of my first Sergeant supervisors when I joined the Winnipeg Police Department in 1976. He was a really great guy to work for. So very sad to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Bob Russell (Former Colleague ) on: Jun 20, 2017

It is with extreme sadness that we learned of my Uncles passing, confirmed through the Sechelt Post. He was a wonderful man with a huge heart. He loved dancing around to Paul Simon fancy gourmet dinners with a great bottle of wine. I'd sit and watch as I made wax sculptures by the fireplace out of the "fancy" cheese wax. I remember the last family vacation to Puerto Vallarta years ago...I can still see that Police Force pendant glaring bright gold on his sun burned chest! After serving the Winnipeg Police force until his retirement, he left Winnipeg after the passing of his father, my grandfather, Emmanuel Bollenbach. I enjoyed spending time with him during his visit to Winnipeg to help with my grandmothers, his mothers move from their childhood home on Dunrobin Avenue in East Kildonan. I thought of him often, especially lately. It was with great sadness that we were only able to see him one other time as his health was deemed too poor to travel, though the exception was given when he was able to attend the service for my grandmother, Stella Bollenbach, at her time of passing in 2012. We unfortunately lost touch in the years since and were shocked to hear of his passing through third parties. His loss of presence is made more difficult due to the internment not being announced, and so we are all left without closure. It breaks our hearts. Such a wonderful smile... I'm sure he's up in heaven with his Mom and Dad, as well as his grandparents numerous Uncles and Aunts, and those who had gone before him. He will be missed very much by myself and all who knew and loved him, including his sister Patricia Colyer (John), son, Gary Bollenbach (Ursula) and family, daughters Lori and Cathy. The big man with the big heart....until we see each other again. He will live in our hearts forever. xoxoxoxoxo - Posted by: Cristan Stevenson (Niece) on: Jun 20, 2017
