ERROLL BRAUNSTEIN July 23, 1954 - June 18, 2017 Erroll died suddenly at home on Father's Day, leaving his wife of 27 years, Kathleen N. Black, and daughters, Keeley and Elowen (Stevie-Ray). He is survived by his mother, Virginia, and sisters, Gayna, Alayna, and Arolynn. He is predeceased by his father, Murray, and his brother, Randy. Erroll enjoyed snowmobiling, and BBQing at the cabin he so lovingly built at Lester Beach. He spent as many weekends as possible there, sharing it with family and friends. Inside the cabin are many examples of Erroll's passion for Pepsi and Star Trek memorabilia. Erroll had a great sense of humour, was an enthusiastic chef, and a skilled renovator who would help all that needed his expertise. He was proud of his business administration degree and was a hard and prolific worker. He was a kind-hearted, jovial man and caring father. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 23 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m. No flowers. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful friends, family, and neighbours. Beam him up, Scotty!

Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • I am shocked and very saddened. Erroll and I were friends so long ago and, tragically, lost touch through time and distance. I left Winnipeg in 1984 and spoke with Erroll a couple of times after that - the last being in 2000. Erroll was a true friend in every sense of the word. He was kind, generous and never had a bad word about anybody. What a tragic loss. My condolences to his wife and family - albeit belated. Rest in peace, my friend. - Posted by: Richard Lane (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2022

  • Such a tragic, tragic loss! We have so many memories of Erroll, Kathleen and their dear family. From the crazy themed dinners, so many weekends at 'the beach', our trip to Paris (Erroll shocked at the whole anchovies on his salad!), a tour to Champagne - we enjoyed that champagne for months following - every occasion was a champagne occasion. As we do not have family here, Erroll and Kathleen always included us in their Christmas celebrations and so many more family events. Erroll had so many food memories. He was a great cook who was so specific about his creations. He insisted on 'proper' plates for supper at the beach - no paper! We miss him terribly and will continue to do so. - Posted by: jayne, jim, jenna (friend) on: Jun 23, 2017

  • Errol was just exactly the kind of neighbor everyone needs. Always friendly, happy, took time to chat and share a piece of his life. He will be sorely missed on Garfield St S. My condolences to his immediate and extended family. - Posted by: Esther Lesperance (Neighbor) on: Jun 23, 2017

  • I have had the pleasure of knowing Erroll for 15 years at Sobeys. I will miss seeing his face every morning. Erroll always treated people with respect . I enjoyed all the conversations about his wifes paintings, his snow mobile adventures and the most recent was the Mercedes. He was so proud for me to sit in the front seat and show me all the bells and whistles this car had. If I ever had an issue with my iphone, Erroll was a pro on teaching everything it could do. Erroll was truely a great person. We will miss him and he will forever be in our thoughts. My condolences to the Braunstein family. Rest Easy Erroll............ • The comfort a parent has that a wonderful role model is in your child's life is priceless. That role model was Erroll. Erroll and his family are amazing people and I'm heart broken that he has gone on. I wish I could have thanked him more for being such a wonderful man and from bringing up a wonderful daughter like Elowen. My heart goes out to Kathleen, Elowen (my daughter in law) and Keeley and his mother and sisters. - Posted by: Anne Stewart (My son is married to Elowen, He was Stevie-Ray's father-in-law) on: Jun 22, 2017

  • Erroll and I were childhood friends. We attended the same school in East Kildonan and became quick friends. In the years spanning elementary and junior high we shared many exciting and, for me at least, pivotal life adventures. Like the time we were caught breaking glass on Halloween night. And the time we rode our bicycles from EK to Charleswood and most of the way back. No one even knew we were gone until he called his home from his father's station. His Dad had one of his guys put us on a bus for the last bit because it was a rough area and it was already dark. Erroll's family moved away and we stayed in touch for a few years but as life goes, we lost touch. We'd see each other occasionally and share a few laughs and catch up on news. I still fondly remember time spent with his mother and his sisters and offer my condolences for the loss of my old friend. Rest in peace, Erroll. - Posted by: Lyle Ball (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2017

  • I had the honor to be a friend of Erroll's for the past 20 years. Erroll told me about his countless snowmobile adventures, being chased off the Florida keys by a hurricane, his adventures on a Mexican beach and going to Vulcan Alberta to see the Star Trek Enterprise.. Erroll was always happy and smiling when telling me his stories... However, I had never seen Erroll glow as bright as he did two weeks ago.. I walked into the office early one morning to be greeted by Erroll. He said follow me, were going outside... He took me to a Mercedes that was in the parking lot... Opened the doors and told me to get in. We sat in the car for well over a 1/2 hour. Erroll showed me everything that car can do. He was so very happy to be privileged to drive the car. It was his sisters, and she told Erroll to drive it as its been sitting for years. Erroll was smiling from ear to ear. Erroll didn't just take me into that car, he took several other friends for a 1/2 hour at a time.. I could imagine how tired he was, however was so excited and overjoyed by the car.. Erroll, you will be truly missed by myself and all your co-workers. There is a definite void by not seeing you every morning. You were taken way too early, you will not be forgotten. Its been 4 days since you passed and I still catch myself adding you to an email list.. Till we meet again my friend.. Corey - Posted by: Corey Chizick (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2017
