Date of Passing: Jun 20, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROGER EDMOND LEMOINE Roger Edmond Lemoine passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017, at the age of 83. Roger is predeceased by his son, Roland Lemoine; his parents, Dominique and Marguerite Lemoine; his brother, Robert Lemoine and brother-in-law, Roger Fenez. Roger is lovingly remembered by his wife Jeannine Lemoine; children, Michelle (Bob) Stanson, Paul (Kim) Lemoine, and Monique (Paul) Casciano; daughter-in-law Larissa Lemoine; grandchildren, Trevor, Monika and Mark Stanson, Dawson and Emily Casciano, and Max Lemoine; his brother Francis (Irene) Lemoine and sister Dolores Fenez; loving nieces and nephews, extended family and many close friends. Roger was born in St. Lazare, MB in 1933. He lost his father at an early age and started to work as a mechanic to help the family. He took such a keen interest in mechanics that he went on to take his journeyman's certificate in auto mechanics. Roger became a very talented mechanic, if anyone had a problem with their vehicle, they knew that they could bring it to him and he would be able to diagnose it. He would come home from work and start working in his garage where he excelled at solving any mechanical problem. He met and fell in love with the love of his life and best friend, Jeannine, whom he married in 1959. They purchased a small house on Kitson Street and started their family. After 12 years in the city, they moved to their current home in St Germain. This home and land became his sanctuary. He worked for several years at various dealerships in Winnipeg and then became the fleet mechanic for Balcaen & Sons where he remained until he retired at the age of 65. Even after retirement, Roger didn't retire his love of mechanics. There was always a vehicle in his garage. In the last 15 years or so, Roger specialized in repairing vintage tractors and lawn mowers of all sizes. As word of mouth spread, he had a waiting list of people who were hoping he could work miracles for them. He loved working in the garage. He always stayed busy, whether it was working in the yard, or the garage, or having his daily (sometimes twice daily) meetings at the coffee shop. This is where they solved all the world's problems. Dad was a big man with a big heart. He was outgoing and could become friends with anyone. He has been known as 'Balloone', 'Baba', 'Rog'; always 'friend'. His grandkids know him as 'Pepe'. He always had an elaborate story to tell. Although very quick with a joke, he sure never backed down from a good argument. He had the most infectious laugh. He worked hard all his life and taught us the value of hard work and the importance of a good work ethic. Roger also loved farming. Back in the 60s he befriended a farmer in Brunkhild, Alfons Laudin, who became one of his best friends until his death a few years ago. Roger would look forward to working on the farm machinery, and also taking the machines out in the field. He would drop everything when Alfons would call. He continued to be involved with the Laudin farm long after the loss of his good friend. The family would like to acknowledge all the kindness people have bestowed upon them. A special thanks to Brian Sanek, who has been Roger's best friend and partner in the garage over the last few years. He might not have been rich in money, but he had immense wealth with his family and an abundance of friends in his life. As per Roger's wishes, a private graveside ceremony will be taking place. The family will organize a Celebration of Life at a later date for all of his friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teen Challenge. Arrangements made with: E.J. Our family lived three doors down from the Lemoine family on Kitson Street in Norwood. My dad had great respect for Roger, as both a mechanic and friend. He valued his opinion on anything to do with his cars, especially his Chryslers, and continued to seek his advice and help, even after they moved to St. Germain. I too can recall his wonderful laugh! He was a good person for my dad to have in his life. My thoughts go out to the family at this difficult time. Judi Parry (Clendening) - Posted by: Judi Parry (Former Neighbour) on: Jun 24, 2017

We send our love to the family, and will always remember Roger's kindness whenever we visited. Although it's been many years we can remember how Roger always had something on the go in the shed and how beautiful the grounds and gardens were. Love to you all. I remember his laugh. He was always happy, or joking. I enjoyed listening to his stories about the road trips he went on with Dad. We finally were able to find out what actually went on when they took off. Sincerest condolences on the loss of your husband, father and friend. He will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda Laudin (Family Friend) on: Jun 22, 2017
