DIANE ELIZABETH STUART July 9, 1946 - June 14, 2017 Sadly Diane, 70, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully, with family and best friend Stu by her side, at Seven Oaks Hospital on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Diane is survived by her sister Carol (Bob), niece Bridget (Cynthia), nephew Jason (Nancy), great-niece Taylor, long time best friend Stu, good friend Sharon (fur baby nephew Rio), and many other friends, including friends from Boston Pizza on McPhillips Street and Marigold on Inkster. Diane was predeceased by her parents Maude and Harry, as well as her husband Rick. Diane worked for CN/CP Rail for 22 years, 1966 to 1988, as well as several city servant positions beginning in 1988. She was very dedicated and took great pride working for the City of Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service for a number of years, where she later retired in 2008. Diane had an uncanny knack for making friends wherever she went. She wore her feelings on her sleeve and always had something to say - telling the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. If you knew Diane, you knew that she was a thoughtful, compassionate woman, who truly sought out to see the good in all. Everyone always knew where they stood with her, and all who loved her will never forget her laughter, free spirit, dedication and zest for life. Living life to the fullest, Diane loved to travel, had a deep connection to animals, and wanted every guest to feel at peace in her home. She was dedicated to being a loving mother to all her rescued fur babies. With her love for animals, she enjoyed spending time with her dogs Sherman, Hershey and Sir Oliver, as well as her cats Cooper, River and Pepe. Thank you to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital who kept Aunty Diane comfortable. In keeping with Diane's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life with close family and friends will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane may be made to the Humane Society or any animal rescue shelter in Winnipeg. You are loved and missed. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 204-253-5086

Diane and I met while working at the Winnipeg Fire Department where we became friends. Diane's very nature was that of kindness, caring and honesty, with a touch of mischief. Whatever Diane did, she did with passion. Whether it be her job, spending time with family and friends, her love for all animals, volunteering or random acts of kindness, Diane put her heart into it. And when Diane shared one of her experiences, you became captivated by her literary flair. She had such a great sense of humor. Anyone who knew Diane, knew she had a loving character. She will be missed. Until we meet again my friend. - Posted by: Sharon (Friend) on: Jun 24, 2017
