SISTER ANTOINETTE SERVANT c.s.c. After a lengthy illness, Sister Antoinette Servant passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital. She celebrated 75 years of consecrated life with the Sisters of Holy Cross this year. Feisty and loving by nature, Antoinette's passion was music. She taught piano lessons for many years and participated in the choir "Les Intrépides" where she was granted a lifetime membership. She directed her own choir, "Partage de Bonheur" for over 30 years, organizing concerts at Christmas, as well as the "Festival du Voyageur", and bringing the joy of music to nursing and seniors' homes. She was predeceased by her parents, Aurélius and Ida (nee Lajoie) of Falher, Alberta, her brothers, Sylva and Edouard (Hélène), and her sister Carmen (Réal Croteau). She leaves to mourn her nieces and nephews, the members of the Holy Cross Community, and many friends. A funeral mass celebrating Antoinette's life will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 Avenue de la Cathedrale, with a reception to follow. Her ashes will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta. The Sisters of Holy Cross wish to express their deep gratitude to Dr. P.G. Mehta, Dr. N. Fontigny, the staff of 4E, St. Boniface Hospital, CancerCare and home care for the gentle and generous care offered to Antoinette. "Music is God's greatest gift to His sorrowing people, to lead them to a joy worthy of their destiny." - Johann Sebastian Bach E.J. COUTU & CO. My earliest piano lessons were from Aunty 'Toinette when she visited our distant community in Northern Alberta where she also began her life. I became a piano teacher largely because of her influence on my life. I actually lived in Manitoba for 3 years and visited her often for inspiration. My husband also enjoyed her loud presence in our home. He learned alot about the French Canadian culture through the choral concerts she directed and the Festival du Voyageur. I'm so sorry that I didn't have a chance to say goodbye. I know I will see you later on the other side. Diane - Posted by: Diane Szijjarto (2nd cousin) on: Aug 31, 2017

Antoinette was a beautiful person. She will be missed. I had the absolute pleasure of having her sing Happy Birthday to me at the office. I will never forget how it made me cry. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Mandy (Dr. Fontignys receptionist ) on: Jun 27, 2017
