JEAN (JOHN) LAVOIE Peacefully, with family at his side, John passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Health Sciences Centre. Surviving him are his wife of 58 years, Anita; son Paul, daughter Suzanne (Heath Anderson); grandchildren: Michael (Anna), Danielle, Christopher Lavoie; Shea and Trace Anderson; one great-grandson Jaxon Klyne-Lavoie, and several nieces and nephews John started his 37 year career at Canada Post as a mail sorter and was quickly recognized for his customer service skills. He was promoted and moved up the ranks to Director of City Services, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing and loved dancing, especially square dancing. John was a member of the Windsor Park Knights of Columbus. During his working years he and his family vacationed at their cottage at Albert Beach. Once retired, summers were spent at the cottage and winters in Mexico and Penticton, BC. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of John's life will be held at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, on Wednesday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in John's memory to a charity of your choice. A special thank you to Joseph, Joanne, Dr. Jacobson and his staff in MICU at Health Sciences Centre, for their care and compassion, as well as Doug for bringing peace to us during this difficult time.
