OMER MENARD July 30, 1927 - August 21, 2017 Omer passed away in the Grace Hospital at the age of 90 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Solange (nee Bernardin); five children, Robert (Lynne), Estelle (Claude), Patrick (Patti), Elaine (Charlie) and Monique (Guy); 12 grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa), Elise (Ashley), Chantalle (Jesse), Rachelle, Jeannine (Mike), Nicole, Jena (Grant), Charlie (Adam), Alyssa (Jacob), Eric (Lauren), Jolene and Marcel; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Paisley, Spencer and the fourth on the way; four siblings, Aurore, Fernand, Olive and Ida; plus numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Formosa and Avila Menard; three brothers, Marcel, Gerald and Mederic; and five sisters, Solange, Stella, Leonie, Cecile and Therese. Omer spent many years working at Winnipeg Supply and then Manitoba Hydro. He cherished his family and the many friends he made along the way (St. Eustache, St. Francois Xavier, Petersfield, St. Charles and Sturgeon Creek II). Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street with Rev. Fr. Michael Wollbaum celebrant. Eulogy and one decade of the Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. prior to the mass. It was Omer's wish to be cremated. Inurnment of his cremated remains will take place in St. Charles' Cemetery after the Memorial Mass. After the inurnment, a reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Charles Parish would be appreciated.
