MARGARET ANN LANDRY (nee NICHOLSON) Margaret Ann Landry, 84 years, died Saturday morning, August 12, 2017 in Palm Desert, California. She was recently predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Hubert "Hub" Landry. She was also predeceased by her brothers Rob and Ken Nicholson, and sister Mary Loukes. She leaves behind her son Paul Landry and his wife Kathy, son Richard Landry, daughter Christine (Landry) Neumann and her husband Christian, four grandchildren, brother Bill Nicholson, sister Betty Whincup, sister Janet Flamond, and many beloved friends and family. Born in High Bluff, Manitoba, Canada and raised in Portage la Prairie, the daughter of James Nicholson and Anne (Molontuk) Nicholson; she lived the majority of her adult life in the St. Louis, Missouri area being a homemaker and devoted mother and wife. She also spent a considerable amount of time at her beloved Canadian home on beautiful Crow Lake in Nestor Falls, Ontario. In her early years in Portage, she attended school and graduated at the top of her class. She was also a star athlete, excelling in track and field, basketball, and practically any sport she participated in. She frequently joked that some of her records were still unbeaten. She also played a big part in the upbringing of her younger siblings. After graduating from high school, Margaret pursued a career in nursing. Margaret met her husband, Hub Landry, while working in St. Anne, Manitoba. She later joined him in Alton, Illinois and married in 1958. Margaret had a passion for life. She loved the outdoors, whether it was working around her home or out in the garden, out on the lake fishing, or reading a good book in the sun. She also developed a passion for treasure hunting from a young age. She loved going to house and estate sales, auctions, or even frequently pulling over from the highway, while travelling across country, just to take a look to see what could be found. In keeping with Margaret's wishes a private graveside service was held at the Hillside Cemetery in Portage la Prairie. E.J. COUTU & CO. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolences on your mother's passing. I didn't know your mother or your father, but knew Florence LaBossiere. Your father, Hubert, and his sister, Florence, were my father's first cousins. My father, Lucien Alfred Landry, died in 2000. His father was Anselme Landry, brother to Ildege. My father and mother, Marie, would spend time with Florence and Alcide in the winters in Palm Springs. I have a website of the Landry family that you are welcome to view on landryancestry.tribalpages.com. If you have any pictures of the Landry's or other information you'd like to share, you can contact through that webpage. - Posted by: Jan Landry Gangnes (1st cousin, once removed of Margaret Landry's husband, Hubert.) on: Nov 09, 2017

  • I had the pleasure of spending time with Margaret and her family in Nestor Falls, Ontario, as a girl growing up. At this time her children were young adults, then on their way to university and pursuing careers. Margaret spent time on Crow Lake, enjoying quiet lake life. I had the opportunity to spend some lazy afternoons taking nature walks with her, having lunch, swimming off the dock. I'll remember Margaret as intelligent, honest, strong, kind, lover of nature and solitude, devoted to family, always enjoying a good laugh. Her bright, intelligent eyes were truly a window into her beautiful soul. She was the kind of woman any young girl could aspire to be like. I offer my condolences to Richard, Chrissy, Paul and families. Your mom was really a special lady. - Posted by: Christine LaBossiere (Granddaughter of Florence Landry ) on: Aug 26, 2017
