ELAINE JULIA DIANE KARATCHUK On August 22, 2017, with family by her side, our sister was called by our heavenly father to join her family. She was greeted by our parents, Mike and Julie, brother Ryan and sister Evelyn. Cherishing her memory is her sister Linda, brother Daryl (Julie), numerous nieces and nephews, family members, and close friends. Elaine was born in Gimli, lived in Riverton with her family, and moved to East Selkirk shortly after. Elaine was an educational assistant in the Lord Selkirk School Division. She was passionate about her work with children and valued her relationships with colleagues. Elaine's love and devotion to her family was unwavering. She created lasting memories that will be forever cherished by each of us who knew her. In lieu of flowers, in honour of Elaine's memory, of her love of reading and children, donations may be made towards the purchase of books for East Selkirk Middle School, Grades 5 to 9. Books may also be donated at the service. A celebration of her life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Anthon Bouw officiating. Please Lord, continue to watch over our sister and keep her safely in the palm of your hand as this is the farthest she has been away from home. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of working with Elaine for a year at ESMS and sincerely enjoyed connecting with her on a daily basis. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a genuine passion for developing positive realtionships with the students she worked with. It was an honour to have known such a wonderful person and I could always count on a warm hug anytime we crossed paths at Tim Hortons or anywhere else in the Lord Selkirk School Division community. My sympathies to her family. Gloria Juvonen (Colleague) - Posted by: Gloria Juvonen (Colleague) on: Aug 28, 2017
