LAURETTE BLUM (LANE) (nee COTE) We are deeply saddened by the loss of our mother Laurette Blum. She peacefully passed away in her sleep on the morning of August 31, 2017. Her spirit and soul prevailed, but ultimately cancer took her away from us. Her strength, optimism and caring nature will always be cherished. She is remembered as a strong, kind woman who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Mom married Allan Lane on September 19, 1959 and they were blessed with four children, Darlene, Ken, Carol and Darren. Allan tragically passed away October 9, 1973. Mom met Bill Blum and remarried February 28, 1976 and had two sons, Chris and Andy. They moved the family to Nestor Falls, Ontario, where they bought a fishing camp and had 17 years of successful business. After selling the camp in 1993, they moved back to Winnipeg. Sadly Bill passed away in 2003. Laurette was also predeceased by her daughter Carol, granddaughter Michelle, and her sister Yvonne. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Darlene (Ernie), Ken (Lori), Darren (Kali), Chris (Shawn) and Andy (Krystal), son-in-law Jack; her siblings, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the E. J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba. Laurette will live on forever in the hearts of her family. E.J. COUTU & CO.
