LEONIE LAMOUREUX After a life well lived devoted to her family and her Lord, surrounded by her children, Léonie Lamoureux (Hogue), 98 years old, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2017 to rejoin her many well missed family members and friends of long ago. Born in St. Malo, MB on March 1, 1919 she was the daughter of Achille and Mathilde Hogue. She met and then married Denis Lamoureux on June 24, 1939. With the start of the Second World War, with her two young sons in tow, she found refuge and lived once again with her parents. Upon his return in 1945 Denis and Léonie moved to Transcona and it is there where the heart of her endeavour continued to flourish - that of raising their seven children. Her expertise was a positive demeanour of patience and genuine kindness which she exemplified to everyone, most importantly to her children, Undoubtedly her greatest legacy was her love. Having been immersed in the Catholic community from an early age, Léonie was involved in many church activities. She belonged to the parish Notre Dame de L'Assumption, was involved in the Catholic Woman's League and over the years had assisted with many fall suppers and bazaars. She met many good friends here. Léonie really enjoyed meeting up with her sisters for a good laugh. She also enjoyed family gatherings, Sunday suppers, picnics, corn roasts at her parent's farm, card games, music, gardening and later in life loved to camp, travel and paint. Léonie was predeceased by her beloved husband Denis in 1994, her parents Achille and Mathilde Hogue, all of her brothers and sisters, and grandson Michael Fox. Left to mourn her loss are her children: Roger (Cecile), Paul (Paula), Irene (Tony Georgison), Laurent (Georgette), Rita (Laird Smith), Claude (Pat) and Monique (Michel Bellec); known as "Grandma" or Grand-mère" to 19 wonderful grandchildren and 24 delightful great-grandchildren. "Do your best and leave the rest", "La vie est belle mais bien compliqué", and "Que sera, sera" are words we all often heard. She will also be missed by her sisters-in-law: Florence Trudel, Hortense Lamoureux, Madeleine Tetreault, Henriette Lamoureux, and countless nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Father Léonce Aubin for his friendship, compassion and frequent visits which always made Mom smile. As well, a big thank you to the entire hard working and very dedicated staff of Park Manor Personal Care Home, especially Trish and good friend Rachel for making Mom's last three years pleasant and happy.
