ROLAND LEA Peacefully on September 8, 2017, Roland Lea, aged 87 years, of Matheson Island, MB passed away with his family by his side, at Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB. Dad was born on July 13, 1930 in Little Bullhead and moved to Pine Dock in early 1940. He met his future wife Doreen (nee Mowat) and they married on May 27, 1953. They lived at Big Bullhead Point for two years and then moved to Matheson Island where they raised their five children. Dad was fortunate enough to make a living at what he loved to do, fishing and trapping. Dad also loved tending to his flower gardens and vegetable garden right up until his health started to fail. He was an avid lover of birds and especially dogs. Dad was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Doreen; parents Harry and Josephine Lea; daughter Brenda; great-granddaughter Colette; brothers, Richard and Walter; sisters, Mary, Dorothy and Ellen; sister-in-law Mabel; brothers-in-law, Bill, Franklin and Henry; daughter-in-law Marilyn and son-in-law Chuck Makara. Dad leaves to mourn his children Debbie, Donna (Jeff), Doyle (Charlene), and Tim (Kim); brother Clifford (Violet); sons-in-law, Stanford Oigg and Donnie Ladouceur; grandchildren, Mona, Amber, Derek, Michelle, Cameron, Nicole, Ryan, Jamie, Devin, Justin, Patrick, Matthew and Aela; great-grandchildren, Quentin, Rudy, Cody, Trevor, Matthew, Ashton, Nick, Hannah, Danielle, Austin, Aaliyah, Liam and Landon; also two great-great-grandchildren, Bria and Mason. He will be fondly missed by his good friend Frank Orvis. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in the Matheson Island Hall. We would like to thank the Fisher River Personal Care Home and staff for taking such good care of dad while he was there and also to Arthur Oigg for always looking out for him; and the staff at Percy E.
