JEAN AGNES PITRE (nee BEAUDOIS) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother Jean Agnes Pitre, at the age of 89 years and 8 months old, on September 23, 2017 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom was born December 25, 1927 in Melville, Saskatchewan. In 1929 the family moved to Winnipeg and settled in the St. James area of the city. She attended St. Mary's Cathedral School, and then St. Mary's Academy. She then went on to attend Central Normal School in Winnipeg, and upon completion of her studies, became an elementary school teacher. While teaching in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba, she met our dear father Elmer Gerard Pitre. They quickly fell in love and the two were wed on August 9, 1948. In 1955 they moved with their first four children to Transcona, Manitoba, then on to the Norwood Flats of Winnipeg in 1968 raising a total of 10 children! Mom loved her family deeply wanting the very best for each of us. She was a deeply religious woman with a very strong conviction to her Catholic faith. She also had a tremendous love for her dogs and was well known in the "dog training community". In the past few years Mom had been residing at Cathedrale Manor in St. Boniface. She was very happy there. She always loved when her children and grandchildren would visit, providing you with a "ticket" for a lunch or dinner. She also had countless outings, spending numerous overnights at many of her kids' homes. So many that it was hard for her to keep up! We all loved having her with us! Mom was predeceased by her father, Francis Joseph Beaudois, mother, Mary Cassie Maclellan, her brother Donald Francis Beaudois S.J, husband Elmer Gerard Pitre, and grandchildren, Christopher Gerard Pitre and Rene Paul Desrosiers. Left to mourn her passing is her children Cathy Monteith (Brian), Donna Melsness (Tim), Marcel Pitre (Lucille), Glenn Pitre (Lucille), Elmer Pitre, Donald Pitre (Carole), Irene Brunette (Marc), Midge Cardoso (Duarte), Annette Pitre and Jeanine Pitre (Rick), 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Many thanks to both staffs at St. Boniface General Hospital and Cathedrale Manor for their kind care given our mother. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc St., Winnipeg, MB at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are respectfully declined, with donations, if so desired, being directed for church masses being said for her at Holy Cross Parish or the Winnipeg Humane Society in her name. E.J. COUTU & CO. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear Glenn and your entire family: I just went to log on to your dear Uncle Don’s memorial page as he has been gone to be with the Lord 2 years ago today. In googling the site I came across the news you lost your mother in September. I am so very sorry. What a lovely tribute to her here and beautiful picture. I see the family resemblance. Boy your grandparents did a great job raising some awesome and positive children! Wish I could have met them and all of you. You are in my thoughts, heart and prayers.
