BERNICE LENORE WENINGER (nee SOLNES) October 27, 1918 - September 20, 2017 On September 20, our dear mother passed peacefully with family at her side, just one month short of her 99th birthday. Bernice is survived by daughters, Lonna (Wes) and Lois (Brett); granddaughters, Dayna (Mike) and Signe (Roman); five great-grandchildren; brother Boyd (Rita); very dear friend Harold and many nieces and nephews. Mother was predeceased by her husband Albert George and siblings, Gordon, Mildred and Norman. A well known community member of Dominion City, Bernice's hands, head and heart were in music for over 85 years, playing for dances, weddings, funerals, church services and hundreds of social occasions. A special time in Bernice's life was her service as a sergeant in the army (C.W.A.C.) during the Second World War. In the late 40s she loved her work at Chateau Lake Louise where she encountered some of the wealthy and famous of the day. Mother raised her little family while she was employed at the C.I.B.C. in Dominion City for over 25 years. Our mum was a life-long servant of Dominion City United Church. It was her great pride and honour to play for services, to direct her junior choir, to accompany soloists and help with bookkeeping. She was well read and loved birds and flowers. She enjoyed sewing, curling, politics and time with her grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dominion City United Church, Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. A heart-felt thanks to the many friends and relatives who supported mother over the last few years. Special thanks to the Emerson Care Home staff for their many kindnesses and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominion City United Church. Bernice's words to live by: ... Live simply ... Love generously ... Care deeply ... Speak kindly ... Leave the rest to God Arrangements Entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451 www.morrisfuneralhome.ca
