CLYDE BEVERLY MANSWELL August 5, 1936 - October 14, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, Clyde Manswell. He was predeceased by his parents James and Flora (Rowley) Manswell, and siblings, Lennox, Stephen, Eugene "Chuck" and Neville. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Irene Manswell (née Theriault), and their four children, Gisele (Curtis Charr), Miriam (George Gushulak), Monique (Henry Vasquez) and Robert (Kimberly Lenz). He is also survived by six siblings, Carlton (Theo -deceased), Sheila, Eileen (Norbert Paul), Audrey (Norbert "Pancho" Jackson), Roderick (Marjorie) and Vivian (Willie); six grandchildren, Alexa, Ashley, Maya, Jaden, Daniel and Jasmine, the Manswell family in Winnipeg: Lennox, Cynthia and Kevin, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express their thanks to Claire Soulodre for her support and care over the years. He will be lovingly remembered by his numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and his vast circle of friends and medical colleagues. Clyde was born the sixth of 10 children in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He came to Winnipeg in 1957 to pursue his studies, and this is where he met and married the love of his life Irene in 1961. He completed his medical degree in Ghent, Belgium in 1972 and completed his specialty in psychiatry in Winnipeg in 1976. He was a dedicated Psychiatrist in Winnipeg for over 30 years, providing his patients not only with sound advice but also with a part of his generous heart. He participated in clinical studies, taught psychiatry for medical students at the University of Manitoba, and authored two books, his autobiography "The Pledge", and a clinical book about addictions, "It Takes 2 to Tango Maybe 3". He maintained strong ties to his Trini roots, returning home to 25 Cadiz Rd. annually. He enjoyed golf, tennis, jazz, calypso, Parang, travel, and getting together "liming" with friends. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Action Marguerite Taché Centre for the wonderful care and respect they provided for him and his family. To his friends and colleagues near and far, your support and love lift us as we cherish our memories. Cremation has taken place care of Korban Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, 847 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, MB with refreshments to follow. My Deepest Sympathy to Aunt Irene and family. Although I hadn't seen Uncle Clyde in many years I remember him fondly. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was a bright light in this world. I have a wonderful memory of a trip I took with my parents to stay with Uncle Clyde and Aunt Irene when I was about 12 years old in the 70's. We had a wonderful time by the pool, swimming and soaking up the warm summer sun. The best part was getting to spend time with Clyde and Irene and the kids; truly special people who welcomed us with warmth, kindness and friendship. I also remember the wonderful little books Clyde and Irene would send to me from Belgium while he was studying there. It was so very thoughtful - just the kind of man that he was. I will hold the memories of Uncle Clyde in my heart. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Shannon Theriault (Niece (God Daughter)) on: Dec 26, 2017

Mangee was my brother, Leon 'Taf' Phillips bosom buddy being Vice-captain & captain of St Mary's Trinidad. Clyde's visits were a joy to our family. When Leon was dying , Clyde was daily going to Living Water Hospice to offer hours of comfort. He had such a generous heart offering such telling advice to our family. The irony to me is that because of Clyde, I was induced to be physically active. To me his life was one of 'stick-to-it- iveness'. Some thing that our youngsters must emulate. More Trinis of his caliber must come forward. I'll never forget him. My tears and deepest condolences to dear Irene and the family. - Posted by: Ivan Phillips (Friend & tennis partner) on: Oct 18, 2017

My condolences to Mr Manswell’s family, I have a lot of fond memories of Mr. Manswell as a “temporary” High School teacher, temporary, in that the position was just a stepping stone to reach his ultimate goal which he certainly achieved. He was a dedicated teacher and a great dancer at our “sock hops” and we were so impressed when he attended our last High School Reunion. May he now Rest In Peace - Posted by: Laurence Russin (Gimli High School Student) on: Oct 18, 2017
