JUNE BELL (nee HOLLIDAY) After a long, courageous battle, June passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday, October 23, 2017. June is survived by her loving husband Gordon, daughter Darlene, son Keith, daughter-in-law Debbie, and granddaughter Katherine. June was born June 8, 1939 in Winnipeg to the late Isabell and Herb Holliday, and grew up at the end of Sadler Avenue with her brother Bob and sister Judy. June met Gordon and they were fortunate enough to celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary this year. June and Gordon settled in St. Vital and raised their family. June was a stay at home mom, who babysat a number of children over the years. She volunteered for many years at St. George and Victor Mager Schools. Her passion for children lead her to become a Teacher's Aide and lunch monitor for over 30 years at Lavallee School. She loved every minute of working with the kids and staff. June loved to spend time at the cabin in Rainy River. She loved gardening, garage sales, pickling, cutting grass, walking, bird watching, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. June loved to help people and make the world a better place; she spent many hours volunteering at the St. Vital Historical Society and Residential Advisory Group. June and Gordon loved to travel with many winter vacations spent in Hawaii. Most of all, she loved spending time with the apple of her eye, her baby girl, Katherine. Special thank you to the nurses with Palliative Care, Dr. Lori Hilderman, and caregivers Alice, Phyllis, Bea and Cindy. A celebration of June's life will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street at 1:00 p.m., interment to follow in St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of your choice. E.J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors 204-253-5086

  • I just heard tonite about June's passing. I'm so sorry I was out of the Province & unable to say good bye to her. We first met at the Woman's Pavilion when our girls were born 54 years ago. Although our lives went in different directions, when we got together it was like no time had passed. My heart & prayers go out to you Gordon and the family. - Posted by: Karen Genthon (friend) on: Oct 28, 2017

  • I had the pleasure of knowing June in the former St. Vital S. D. No. 6 and in the Louis Riel School Division. She was a dedicated and long-time employee who demonstrated care and compassion to children. I am thinking of her family at this sad time. Rest in peace, dear June. - Posted by: Terry Borys (Colleague) on: Oct 28, 2017
