EDMOND (ED) LECLERC June 20, 1938 - October 24, 2017 With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Edmond Leclerc at Riverview Health Centre on October 24, 2017, surrounded by his family. Survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, children: Brian (Cindra), Garry (Mary), Ron (Maureen) and Sandra, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings: Annette (Alphonse), Euclid Curly (Joyce), Art (Betty) and Roger, together with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gail, mother Mary and father Omere, brothers: Harvey (Sheila) and Albert, sisters: Terry (Edward) and Delia (Norm). Edmond and Lorraine celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on October 17, 2017. Family was important to Edmond and he was always very proud of his family. Edmond was a devoted and loving father, husband, brother and friend. He always looked forward to watching his grandchildren play sports. He had a special way of connecting with so many and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Edmond began to have heart trouble in 1979. We were all grateful Edmond received a heart transplant 28 years ago. Even through the many health challenges that followed, his determination and strength were an inspiration to everyone. He continued to always be on the go and loved walking and cycling. Edmond retired in 2000 from Winnipeg Transit as a bus driver after 26 years of service. He was a hardworking man and was never afraid to take extra shifts or a second job to support his family. Edmond had a love for sports which included playing, watching and betting on them. To the very end he enjoyed playing Sports Select. The racetrack was one of his favourite places to be. He enjoyed playing cards and loved taking money from family and friends. The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Transplant Clinic, the Dialysis Team at 765 Sherbrook, the Palliative and Home Care staff and Riverview Health Centre, who all contributed to his care. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at E.J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. A private burial to follow at St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Kidney Foundation. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
