GILLES BERARD Peacefully at home, after watching a great Canadiens win, our dad, Gilles Berard, passed away on October 29, 2017 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Robert (Nicki), Penny (Eymond) and Cindy; and three grandchildren, Luke, Hayden and Natacha. Gilles is also survived by his two brothers a.k.a "morning coffee buddies", Noel (Georgette) and Claude; two sisters, Yvette (Bob) and Gilberte; sisters-in-law, Claire and Shannon; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Valentine, father Mathias; siblings, Gerard, Roger, Hubert, Lorraine and Marcel; sister-in-law, Rita, nephew, Paul, and niece Bridget. Gilles was born on March 30, 1932 in Otterburne, Manitoba. Gilles was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who was always there to support his family. Over the years, Gilles enjoyed helping his children with their renovation projects, yard work and car shopping/repairs. Gilles looked forward to his morning coffee with his brothers and often could be found puttering in his garage afterwards; polishing his cars, admiring his antiques and talking with neighbours. Gilles loved his grandchildren dearly and was proud of their accomplishments. Gilles will be greatly missed by family and friends. Dad, Mister, pepere, you were our "Big Guy". You loved us unconditionally and were always there for us. You are in our hearts, thoughts and memories. We love you very much. In keeping with Gilles's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church 85 Kirkbridge Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gilles to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Parkinsons Society Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
