MARLA DE FEHR May 26, 1944 - November 1, 2017 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister and aunt. Peacefully on November 1, Marla left us to be with the Lord and to join our parents, John and Helen De Fehr, who predeceased her in 1989 and 2015 respectively. Marla leaves to mourn a family who loved her and who she loved dearly: her brother Len De Fehr (Diane), their children Tricia, Jonathan, Jennifer and Julianne (Andrew); her sister Fran Betz (David), their son David (Katie and Brady); and her sister Dorothy Caldwell (Dave), their children Victoria (Matt), Genevieve (Travis) and Allison (Brian). She will also be missed by her great-nieces and nephews, Mikhail and Isabella Baerg, Ethan and Kailie Fields, Gabriella and Parker Kraus, and Zoe Aitkin. Marla was a caring sister and a wonderful aunt. She was always interested in all of our lives and willing to help in any way she could. Marla was a loving daughter. In the last years of our Mom's life she was her constant companion. Marla loved visits with her canine friends, London and Shadow, who will miss the treats she always gave them. Marla was born in Winnipeg and though she spent 30 years in Toronto and Calgary she returned to Winnipeg to be close to the family she loved. Marla had a long and varied career. Her last job as a S.S.G.L. attendant at Donwood Manor, Elderly Person Housing, was a perfect fit for her kind and outgoing personality. She touched many people's lives there. We marvelled at how Marla persevered with three chronic illnesses. She seldom complained. She put her faith in God and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. You are home now Marla. Rest in Peace Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Wiebe's Funeral Home, Altona in charge of arrangements.

Dear Len, Franie, Dorothy and Families We were shocked to find out that our dear Marla had passed away. We have known her since she was a child as your Mother and Father were very dear friends and neighbors in Winnipeg and at West Hawk Lake. I was very happy I got a chance to see Marla 2016 at her nieces wedding and got photos. She suffered so much and God chose to take her home. She is in a better place. Our sincere sympathy to all of you at this sad time. Love and Hugs Walter and Margaret Martens - Posted by: Walter and Margaret Martens (Friend) on: Jan 04, 2018

Dear Len , Diane ,Fran , Dave ,Dorothy , Dave and family , I'm so sorry for not being there as Marla's loving cousin and be of help in the arrangements as I was in the past for Aunt Helen and Uncle John. I feel and have heard from you that her passing without suffering was of some consolation and comfort to you , a well deserved blessing ! When Marla and I spoke over the years ( unfortunately too few and far between ) she would always say " this is your favourite cousin Marla calling " I did and do love Marla for always being so concerned about my family and how they where doing and would honestly try to make a visit work with an invitation to drop in to see her at any time. I truly wish it could have been more often. I hope Terry with his recent challenges along with Trevor were able to to accommodate all of your wishes in the services for Marla. I'll look forward to seeing you after my return from Taiwan. With much love and warm regards , Cousin Rick - Posted by: Rick C. Wiebe (cousin) on: Nov 07, 2017

So sorry to hear of Marla's sudden passing. We were classmates @ MBCI many years ago & reconnected recently when our mothers became friends after moving to Donwood Manor EPH. She cared deeply for her mother and related well to the elderly, becoming a good friend to our mom as well. She was always happy & upbeat, a very special person who seemed to have found her calling. We regret that we are unable to attend the funeral but pray that you will experience God's peace as you celebrate her life & legacy. - Posted by: Eleanor & Jake Dueck (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2017

Marla and I go back to elementary school. Although our paths took us in different directions whenever we saw each other it was always with the realization that our friendship continued. My condolences to all the family, she truly was a special person and I will miss her. - Posted by: Judy Siemens (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2017
