GIUSEPPE (PEPPINO) CELLITTI July 22, 1943 - November 3, 2017 With deeply saddened hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Giuseppe (Peppino) Cellitti, with family by his side, on November 3, 2017 at the age of 74. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 51 years, Lucia; his children Mary (Chris) and Tony; his grandchildren Stefan and Rylan, siblings Fernanda, Carmela, Adele and Palmina; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends in Winnipeg and Italy. Peppino was predeceased by his parents, Paolo and Maria Domenica, and siblings Nunzio, Mario and Antonietta. Peppino was born in Scanno, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1963 when he was only 20 years old. In 1966, he went back to Italy to marry the love of his life, Lucia. They returned to Winnipeg later that same year to start a new life together. Mom and Dad enjoyed over 51 beautiful years together - always side-by-side, doing anything and everything for each other. They were truly a match made in heaven. Peppino was a quiet and soft-spoken man, who was absolutely content with the simple things in life. He was happiest when he was sitting around the kitchen table with his children and grandchildren eating and laughing together. Within that quiet exterior was a man who was fiercely proud of his family and extremely passionate about his home and garden. Peppino was the ultimate handyman and wood worker. He would happily spend hours at a time in his workshop, creating and fixing things or in the garden cultivating his tomato plants. As much as he loved being a husband and a dad, there was just something extra special about being a grandpa. He would willingly sit in cold arenas watching Stefan's hockey games and Rylan's curling games, cheering them on. He loved telling stories to the boys - usually just made-up stories that went on and on until the boys would fall asleep on nonno's lap and they would nap together. Nonno's hugs and kisses were the best. He was such a proud and loving nonno. Peppino, papa and nonno, we love you. The family wishes to thank the medical staff in SICU at Health Sciences Centre for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue. Condolences begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Four Apostles Mausoleum, Green Acres Cemetery, #1 Hwy. E., R.M. of Springfield.
