RONALD ERNEST MAY July 31, 1926 November 8, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald E. May, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ron is survived by his wife and soulmate Margo (née van den Maagdenberg); his children, Valerie (Marshal), David (Florence), Frank (Peggy) and Rhonda (John); his grandchildren, Cory, Chody (Mike), Rufus and Christopher; his great-grandchildren, Quinn and Cavanaugh; and his stepfamily, Audrey (Charlie), Joyce (Richard), Virginia; grandchildren, Kyle, Janelle, Sarah, Shannon, Kara, Ethan, Jennifer, Megan, Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Rowan, Remi and Noah; his brother Albert; and sister Eleanor. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth May, his brother James and sisters, Irene and Rose, and by his grandson Austin. Ron joined the Canadian Pacific Railway Police in 1951, retiring as Staff Sergeant after 36 years. Ron's love of the military began when he enlisted with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry in 1945. After serving several years, he resigned to be with his family. He later joined the Canadian Intelligence Corps militia unit, serving as a Military Intelligence Investigator, then later as Sergeant Major, he became chief instructor. In 1967, he was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal for his work with the Corps. Ron retired from the militia at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, after serving as Regimental Sergeant Major in the Service Battalion. Ron had many interests throughout his life, but his focus in his later years was on his beloved Margo and on his family. He appreciated simple pleasures, including a good game of cribbage, bowling at Empress Lanes, the Blue Jays, old western movies and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Anavets Assiniboia Unit, #283, 3584 Portage Avenue. Relatives and friends are invited to share in stories, condolences for the family, and directions to the Celebration of Life service by visiting Ron's memorial page at IntegrityDeathCare.com. The family would like to thank the staff of 3 North in the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. INTEGRITY Cremation & Funeral Planning 204-295-5408 - IntegrityDeathCare.com
