JOSEPH GAITAN MARC BRETON February 3, 1947 - November 8, 2017 Peacefully, at the age of 70, Joseph Gaitan Marc Breton passed away on November 8, 2017 at Ashern Hospital. Born to Jean Paul and Adrienne (Arguin) Breton, Marc (no one could pronounce Gaetan so he went by his middle name - despite the fact that he already had a brother named Marc) entered this world on February 3, 1947 in Thetford Mines, Quebec. He grew up in Thetford Mines, Quebec, the second oldest of six children. At the age of 17 he joined the Canadian Air Force, working in Communications. Military postings included North Bay, Ontario (1965), Pineimuta, Manitoba (CFS Gypsumville) (1967), Halifax, Nova Scotia (1969) and later back to Pineimuta, Manitoba in 1973. He stayed in the region for the remainder of his life. In 1977, he left the Air Force as a Master Corporal to start his career as an entrepreneur, running Marc's Texaco in St. Martin, Manitoba, for almost 10 years. During this time, he also obtained his private pilot's license. With the Pineimuta Military Base closing in 1986, he saw a need for an Ambulance service, so, in true Marc Breton style, he began Northern Interlake Ambulance Service (despite the fact that he grew weak at the site of his own blood). He served the community for 14 years, delivering nine babies (a statistic he was very proud of - he always wanted to deliver a 10th but there were no takers), saving countless lives, and making a huge impact in the community. In 2000, Marc opened up St. Martin Family Foods, until he sold it in 2015. He was an active member of the community, a fiercely loyal friend, and a man of integrity. He will be affectionately remembered for his love of cheesy jokes, thick French accent and infectious laugh. Left to grieve is his best friend, who never left his side, Debbie Obsnuk; children, "the twins" Stephen (Michelle) Breton, Stacey (Todd) Beito, and Jeremy (Alley) Obsnuk. Also left to mourn are his greatest joys - he was so very proud of his grandchildren Dallis and Nicholas Shea, Mikayla and Greyson Breton, Savanana and Logan Obsnuk. He will be missed by his siblings Claudette (Yvan) Cyr, Yves (Sylvie) Breton, Michel (Sonia) Breton, Gyslaine Breton, Marc Breton (the real one), numerous nephews and nieces and God Child Yan Lacroix, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Adrienne Arguin and father Jean Paul Breton. At the wishes of Marc, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care Center of Ashern Hospital, or you can do a random act of kindness for someone, in his name. Special thanks for the exceptional care from Ashern Hospital Palliative Care, Dr. Sabri and the nursing staff, your kindness will always be remembered. When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart. • Marc, it was a pleasure to know you and you will be missed. We had many good times together. I enjoyed our trips we took, with Debbie and Sue. Lots of fun and laughs. I would often say don't be a "debbie downer" and you would start laughing...LOL I know you are in a better place and will always be with us. We will see each other again. - Posted by: Larry Lavallee (Brother-in-law) on: Nov 10, 2017
