VIOLA STANFIELD (née CHAPMAN) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Viola Stanfield on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 95. Viola was born to parents (Ernest and Florence) on October 10, 1922 in Toronto, ON. She grew up as one of six children. In 1942, she married Harvey Stanfield and they had a long and wonderful life together. Affectionately known to her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids as Granny Goodwitch (from the Honey Comb Cereal commercials in the 1960s), she started her family just outside of Toronto, ON, on a farm. Later, they built and moved into a cottage in Bobcaygeon, ON. It was home of many fond memories with friends and relatives, both in summer and winter! When her health became an issue, she came to live in Winnipeg, and eventually resided at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. She enjoyed herself there: our fondest memory is her joining a performer singing Patsy Cline on the microphone! Viola is survived by her daughters, Claudia Kopczewski, and Janet; her son Robert; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in Winnipeg. Final services will be held in the spring in Bobcaygeon, ON. The family is grateful for the condolences, but flowers are respectfully declined. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Viola may be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society. E. J.
