JAN (JOHN) BOS Jan (John) Bos, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Hospice Niagara in St. Catharines, ON. Jan was born September 7, 1939 in Gemert, Netherlands, the oldest son of the late Henry Bos and survived by his cherished mother Catherina Bos, aged 99, of Winnipeg. Jan was predeceased by his brother Henk Bos (Sabina) of Winnipeg, and survived by his son Gary Bos (Jennifer) of Niagara-on-the Lake. Jan will be dearly missed by his family members in Winnipeg - brother Ted Bos (Sharon), sister Elizabeth Lankhout, nieces and nephews Anita Kiernicki (Ken), Ron Lankhout (Darcy), Cory Bos (Brooke and son Liam), Cassandra and Marissa Kiernicki, Brylee and Mikayla Lankhout, Ainsley McLeod (Ian), Jordan, Dustin and Dillon Gretchen. Special friends Butch Huisman of Kenora, Joan Fitzgerald of St. Catharines, and many extended family members in the Netherlands. Jan joined the Boden family through son Gary's marriage, and was so grateful to be included for special occasions and family gatherings. Brian, Mary, Jamie, Bev, Scott, Caitlin and Gabriel Boden were a special part of his life. He had amazing support from his dear neighbour Maureen and mother Billie. Jan will be remembered fondly by many friends in Montreal and Eastern Ontario. Jan's family immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1956 arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax at age 16, eventually settling in Winnipeg. In June of 1959, Jan began his 45 year career with Building Products (BP) of Canada in the accounting department. In 1969, his role at BP relocated him to Montreal where he worked until retirement. Jan exuded a "Joie de Vivre/Joy of Life" and truly saw the positive in everything. Everything was always "A-1" in his world, expressing that his life had been "an amazing journey." A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tallman Funeral Home - Vineland Chapel located at 3277 King Street, Vineland, ON.
