Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Laurie and I were so sad to hear of Virgie's passing and on behalf of our whole family, our hearts go to you Tunney and all of you for the loss of your Mom, grandmother, aunt and special lifelong friend to all of you. We have so many memories of her over the years at Coney. What sticks out for me was her presence. She was always so at ease, welcoming, generous, insightful and thoughtful to everyone from us as neighbors, to new people she had just met. What I also noticed was how everyone in the family treated her with respect, love and humour with a big love for life because that is how she treated all she met. That is a Hovorka trait the the whole family shares, and you Tunney and Virgie made that your way of life that will live on in all those you touch. Laurie, Brett, me and our family and grandkids will have many fond memories of seeing her on the beach or lawn and always wave and have time to talk about the funny, friendly and important things in life. We will miss her a lot but know that we will see a part of her in every family member forever. The Hovorka family will know that my Mom always said that the loon that appeared the night that our Dad passed away at the lake was likely him keeping an eye on us. It always brings us a warm thought of him when we see loons off the beach. My Mom still remarks each time she sees one. Perhaps now there will be two loons caring for us all. That would be nice. - Posted by: Don Thompson (Coney Island neighbor) on: Dec 19, 2017

  • Very sad to hear of Virginia's passing. A lovely thoughtful lady who cherished every member of her family and enjoyed and loved her friends. The Hovorka's family celebrations were always true celebrations of family, and filled with love, admiration and pride of each and every member of the family. A wonderful talented family who were always encouraged and supported by Virgie with Tunny always by her side. Beautiful always and a joy to be in her presence. Of course she will be deeply missed but remembered with so much love and admiration. Love never dies and dear sweet Virginia will always be remembered with love by all who knew her. She was an amazing friend. My love to all the family and do share your sorrow. Margery Church - Posted by: margery church (friend) on: Dec 14, 2017

  • So sorry to hear of Virge's passing. What a blessing she has been to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her faith and love of family has been passed down to the next generations. I can see so clearly Your mom/grandma dancing across our living room or singing around a campfire. She blessed our childhoods. Tunney, our hearts are hurting for you. But we know that your family will help to mend your heart, and we know that you will dance again one day with the love of your life! • I had the pleasure of meeting this sparkling gem of a Woman a few eras ago. I had never encountered a whirlwind of a woman like her. Dynamic spirit, generosity and drive. I haven’t seen her for quite some time, but that didn’t keep her spirit and joy of life from inspiring. This such an impactful loss for the family. My heart goes out to Lori, Levi, Abbi and all of the Hovorkas. I’ll put a little lipstick on before I go out today. - Posted by: Jennipher Alexander () on: Dec 13, 2017

  • My thoughts are with you Missy. She will always have a special place in your heart💗 - Posted by: Kimberley Graydon (Coworker) on: Dec 12, 2017

  • A solid family can be likened to a piece of quality plywood. Plywood overall is durable and reliable. Built of many layers, it endures and withstands all that is expected of it. It matters. The family of Virginia and Tunney Hovorka, like the plywood, is multilayered in character, strength and abilities- and it endures. It has stood up to all the challenges, hardships, love and joy that come with being a multi-generational family. And families like plywood are bonded. The glue that held and bonded the Hovorka family for an excess of seven decades, has been Virginia. Her strength of character, faith and personality bonded the family. And like the plywood Virginia ensured that the overall final outcome was stronger and more durable than the sum of its pieces. Virginia touched many people during her life and in turn left a wonderful legacy through the genes she and Tunney passed on through their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and generations to follow. She is remembered for being gentle, thoughtful, engaging and caring about others. She is a dear friend who will be truly missed. - Posted by: Ted and Marj Muir (friend) on: Dec 12, 2017
