My sincerest sympathies to all of John's family. Our dad, Don Kusyk, worked with John at Birds Hill School and carried such love for John in the stories he shared about him to us at home. We were blessed when John came to visit our dad at the hospitable and often reflect on the love he showed our dad in that moment. Our dad was fortunate to have John in his life and, and know he will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. - Posted by: Shona and Meaghan () on: Jan 01, 2018

I heard many stories about Mr Hargreaves from my kids. He was very "cool" in their eyes and made school a better place to be. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Van Ry Family (Students ) on: Dec 17, 2017

So sorry to hear, he was such an awesome guy to see everyday! Always made jokes with the students and made us laugh every day. Never saw him without a smile! A janitor whose name everybody knew. Rest in peace Mr. Hargreaves - Posted by: Raquel (Student) on: Dec 16, 2017

I was so saddened to hear about the passing of John. He was one of the good ones. When I was working at the school, he always went to unlock my door for my room, for we were the first ones there in the morning. He was caring and thoughtful in so many ways. He will be dearly missed by everyone he knew. My heart goes out to his family. - Posted by: Heather Henry (Co worker) on: Dec 15, 2017

John had his own way of connecting with students in need of the positive and often surprising connection. John saved his prime jokes for staff looking too serious. He had the knack of finding just the right piece of needed furniture or a big enough box when most would have given up hope. John kept both staff and students at BHS on their toes. - Posted by: Colette Wallace (Staffmate) on: Dec 14, 2017
