Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA HOVORKA (nee IANNONE) Peacefully on December 9, 2017, Virginia Yolanda Hovorka, was graciously welcomed into God's Kingdom. The entire family was present and Tunney was by her side. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Tunney, sister Chickie Hughes, children: Bonita Merkeley (Peter), Rocky Hovorka (Lorraine), Dea Code, Lori Hovorka, and Gina DeBrincat (Mark), grandchildren: Tanner (Sandra), Quinn (Sari), Teale, Fia (Josiah); Cory, Melissa, Tyler (Penny); Taye, Milan, Vienna; Levi, Abbi, Sean; Jennifer (Pierre), Aisha (Donovan), Pascal, and Jeffrey, and great-grandchildren: Zeph, Yann; Miia, Sami; Forrest, Miriam; Lennon; Tristen, Beau, Theo. Virginia was born on October 3, 1924 in Winnipeg. She grew up and was educated here, and then moved to Flin Flon. She worked with IBM for HBM&S, and soon met Tunney and they married on July 12, 1949. They raised their family in Flin Flon, Carrington, ND and Winnipeg. Virgie's passion was being a wife, a 'mum' to her kids, and a 'second mum' to so many of their friends. This was the job she loved! She worked at the family business with Tunney for a short time. Virg loved to entertain all of their wonderful friends and was a phenomenal cook. She stopped everything when people came over, to catch up on their life and give them her time! She travelled with her family and Tunney across Canada, the US, Guatemala, Italy, Europe and Mexico, while ALWAYS taking time to make stops to visit relatives and friends along the way! In 1979, the family cottage at Lake of the Woods, became their summer retreat and it kindled multiple new and lasting friendships! Coney Island was a happy place for Virg and she was loved there! The most joy Mum received was being with her family and grandchildren! Tunney was the love of her life, and she, his treasure! They complimented each other's personalities and their unwavering commitment wove a fabric of unquestionable love! Her zest for life was contagious and she had a flair for design and fashion! She trusted God in her daily life, and embraced a positive outlook. This is the legacy she left to all! Please join us in celebrating her life with a funeral mass on Friday, December 15, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd. In keeping with Virginia's wishes, cremation has taken place. A reception will follow the service. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
